Hey all!
New to the website and stuff, so just posting a general introduction.

21yr old student in Ireland, finishing up in month and a half for good, ('bout time!) Been into doing doodles and sketches and general artwork since I was a kid, never considered myself any good, but have produced some reasonable stuff over the years.

Drawing only something that i really do in my spare time and it is few and far between.

Tend to do just line-art, easy to work with and can do anything and easy to fix (IMHO) Could never use paints or anything like that properly.

Preferred method is just a good HB mech-pencil and a couple of hours to spare. Loads of ideas in my head, but never seem to be able to get them onto paper properly! Always mess them up.

Anyway, my 2 cents, have t say I'm pretty impresses with the material that is here, I'm gonna get walked all over!

JaegeR, reporting in! :yayca:

I'd prefer a good pastry chef, myself. Peg legs and katanas aside, they probably couldn't make a good chocolate cake... :teeth:

F--- for humor, they don't call us starving artists for nothing, stop tempting us with food we can't afford! :tihi:

By far the best reception yet!

Ninja's rule the dark woods with their flippy-ish-ness and throwing stars and the general coolness of being... a ninja (what else!? :teeth: )

Yarrrr, but ye can't have fun on the high-seas without cap'n Morgan and 'is big bottle o' Black label rum, and polly the high-seas bird of doom, doooom I tell you! (cue stumbling blind-drunk pirate with worlds most vicious budgie on his shoulder!)

Thanks for the intro everyone, ah, but I am Irish, but also finnish, so in a way there is a bit of pirate there, well Viking more to be precise, but I have Katana's, so there for I'm an absinthe-loaded-katana-wielding-Viking!

No ones ever gonna be a Dune style space worm with me are they..

This whole thread reeks of DSG enteries, and should be put to good use.

The salty seas, wenches, craps and cards, grog, treasure, cursed treasure, grog, talking skullls, krakens, more treasure, more grog, bar brawls, gold teeth, hooks, peglegs, cannons and ghosts

vs.

Sneaking around in pajamas, avoid being seen, stealing stuff, gathering info, killing high ranking geezers, not being able to take credit for anything cuz of all the secrecy (Seriously, hows that gonna get you laid?).

All i have to say is "YARR!!" Im a pirate all the way!

Btw, welcome to conceptart.org!

Wow, Skulldog, there are all sorts of Freudian implications from that statement. :teeth:

Seriously, I am content being a sociopathic, mask-wearing, feared-by-all, psychotic killer. .................................................. ......... Was that not one of the choices? :skull:

Freudian...hmmm. Ixna on the space worms for me. Is Evil Chrismas Cyborg Pizza Delivery....Pirate a choice?

Shit, again with the food...

mmmmmmmmm pizza!

Actually, can any of you throw/ point me in the direction of a decen thread to read on sketching? Particularly... anything.

Human faces and proportions get me the most in general. At least with SCFIFI and Fantasy you can strectch things out and there, can be, a lot of freedom with proportionality.

Thanks!

YAR! YOHO HO AND A BOTTLE OF RUM! (ABSINTHE!) FIFTEEN MEN ON A DEAD MAN'S CHEST!:pirate: :vodka1:

Are you referring to a regularly updated sketchbook? You simply create your own thread in the sketchbooks section and fill with anything you want.

...And I've always wondered about the "fifteen men on a dead man's chest" thing. Is that like the pirate version of college students stuffing themselves into a phone booth?

edit: whoops, you meant life-drawing instruction. Yeah, we have that to. Check here (http://www.conceptart.org/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=7) and here (http://www.conceptart.org/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=42) . Hope that helps.

I believe you are correct. There were warriors that some call Varangians from Finland. I think they both wore the same hats though. Horns are cool...

As far as I am aware, there has been sufficient amount of evidence ot show that there were Vikings in the area, but anyway, who cares, I'd still want to be a Viking over a pirate or a ninja!

Exo - Thanks for those links they have some really good stuff.

I really like to do SciFi and Fanstasy stuff, but those tutorials are the kind that can be applied to them of course.

This website should be really, really good for helping me.
However, I have my last ever college exams in two weeks and have yet to properly sit down and do some good honest study!

Oh well!

Thanks again!
