Hey all. Registered here a long time ago (or at least, it seems like)... I don't even know if I ever made a post, however. Anyway, on with my newbish question :)

I've always wondered how one draws these really smooth lines that seem to have perfect curves and such. Here's one quick example of what I'm talking about... (bear with me, it's the only example I could find at the moment...)

Can the artist just naturally draw perfectly smooth curves? do they use guides? or the pen tool in photoshop? i have a wacom graphire tablet at the moment, but I never really got familiar with it, and couldn't really figure out how to get the effects i wanted with photoshop (i tried a bunch of brush settings to at least mimick that type of stroke, but i couldn't get it kept on coming out weird). maybe someone here can tell me how i can draw in that certain style.

thanks for any help!

I do it on a new layer so I can erase line tips and whatnot, and having ctrl+Z handy helps. Draw a line... nope, undo... draw a line.... nope, undo.... draw a line.... I find it easier with a pen or brush and india ink but then there's no ctrl+Z in real life. A big tablet helps, I used to have a 12x18 and you could use your whole armw ith nice sweeping strokes, but I've used 4x5 tablets too and found it harder to do nice curves.

I don't do much line work in flash, but judging from the line weight (if this is flash) the artist used a tablet with pressure sensitivity and just freehanded the lines as normal. I think the only way to get productive is to go all freehand.

Illustrator might be the best program to give the most variety in lines, and give it that clean and polished look.

thanks for the help guys. I'm checking out Flash, since I had an old copy of it.
