Looks a bunch more like a golem than a robot, though.

After alot of attempts I have decided that I cannot draw mechs, leading to this. Spent quite a while on the mechanic and then did a crap two minute background, so sue me. I'm tired.

I think i'll stick to the pencils for a while...
Heck... I always ruin it all when i try to color it... its not even finished...:bashful: argh... Tutorial time...

either way... it's a 5 min sketch with a pencil, and a 20min painting in photoshop.

With the recent troubles at the western borders, a directive has gone out to transfer as many mechanics to active squadrons, and keep only a skeleton crew at the repair shops.

Tough subject, this took a couple of hours, painter

oomwaga, that's funny, I thought about drawing a mechanic needing to jump-start his mech, jumper cables and all but didn't have time to flesh it out. I might do it later on the weekend

My thought and humble feedback

Mach, nice lines and perspective, how about some color? I've found that adding a layer in Photoshop with a "Color" blending mode allows you add color without affecting the underlying drawing

GreenMamba, too many round shapes, I think a few cubes would make it look more like a mech.

OneBadMotha: What's up with the phallic symbols in your drawing?

Hillart, I shouldn't be one to talk about proportions but the foot facing the viewer is way too small

Hideyoshi, nuclearBavaria, oomwaga, fes: You are all in a tie for my favorite drawing today.. nice paintings

Malicivs: nice twist on the concept, I'm a bit bothered by that missing finger on the right hand

Vantrum: nice sketch... hope you won't be having a quiz soon :)

Vaughn: your figures are still floating, try blending the shadows, too much tonal difference between the figure and the mech on the left side of that leg.

Hamsta, I think perspective is becoming pretty solid. the hands on the standing figure are about 2/3rds too small

Andrew, cute characters but you are not incorporating the "working on" part of the theme in your drawing

Thx, charcoal, she is a bit wonky.

Looks like you're struggling with more than just taxes, your character however, looks like she's pretending to do work in order to avoid some of the less desiarble tasks. ;)
I'm sure you're aware of the perspective and anatomy problems - can't really be sure of gender.

oomgawa that one really made me laugh- cool idea.
andrewley- just too cute =)

I fear I missed the topic with that more than a bit (I really hope for a nice fantasy theme soon ;) )- I also have to apologize for this very bad anatomy I should have taken much more care about that =/ but I tried to pratice on light

here s mine- hope its not to offensive but thats what came to my mind at first :dur: 1.5 hours oc 4

oomwaga, that's funny,
Hideyoshi, nuclearBavaria, oomwaga, fes: You are all in a tie for my favorite drawing today.. nice paintings

charcoalArtist: Thanks! You put me in with some pretty sharp company today. I appreciate the vote of confidence.

Oomgawa: Haha, adorable. . .has got to be my favourite today. The mech's foot is a little wonky, but who am I to crit

Lukavi: I am most honored! And no doubt the foot is wonky, as I was looking at a little plastic model, and have never attempted anything mechanized. The humor was to keep you from looking too closely! :)

oomgawa that one really made me laugh- cool idea.

Treehugger: Pleased to have brightened your day! I must admit I smiled while I painted it.

I am supposed to be finishing my taxes, so my crits will have to wait a bit longer. . . but just have to say,
Lukavi: yours reminded me somehow of Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow (a compliment). I love the color/texture of the opening scenes, and your post today has a similar feeling to it. I know you have been doing your own particular style for quite some time, so not inferring that the movie influenced you.

Some tight work from everyone today!

nephilim, thanks but there's a whole of of things bugging me. The right section of the picture is accurate, the far left is too skewed. The 3 point perspective lines are correct, but the entire left part is out of the "viewer's" field of vision. The four "stacked" mechs have some perspective issues, or rather the shadows are falling wrong. 2nd pic, no perspective lines did initially, so the whole thing looks isometric. Result of no planning.

charcoalArtist, currently, I do colour like a kindergardener with a box of crayons... heheh. I normally use an underlayer in photoshop for the colours. Then a new layer or two ontop the lineart. Gawdamn colouring book technique and I need to sit down and do some still life (which I prolly last tried twelve years ago).

Oomgawa, MALicivs: nice idea!
