hey all, could any of the seasoned pros or art school kiddies take a look at the model sheets i've done and give me a few pointers? i'm not a student of anything game related, so i really don't have a clue what i'm doing.

i'm mainly concerned about the posture, should the arms and legs be more spreadeagled? is a side-view of the arm necessary? i'm sure there's a lot i'm missing, and tips would be much appreciated.

Hej Snowfly,
Nice line work, and the postures seam fine, but I have a small comment to the second one from the top.
I think his legs are to short compared to the rest of the body. A rule of thumb says that the head should be 1/7 of the overall hight. There are different variations and proportions, especially if you are doing a kid, but this is the one I try to use.

Well the posing of the carachter might depend what are your plans for it. If you want to pass it to a 3D modeler a "Da Vinci" pose might be more appropriate.
On the other hand, if it's a conceptual for a comic or animation, a full fledge turn-around would be better. It gives more info on detail and shape which is extreeeeeeeeemely important :)
Just one crit tho ; the lines are disturbing to the eye. Try drawing on regular paper but with only the most important lines (like bottom and top of the character, waist, head, etc.).
You really seem to be on the right way tho !

I can try to dig some different model sheet if you're interested (no promises because there's a lot to dig trough and lots of it is still NDA).

if its for a 3d thing, than you should have the arms at a 45 degree angle, dont put it in a t shape cause it'll screw up the shoulders, if youre worried the arms might get in the way you could make them bent and coming forward a bit, like what you did with the lizard guy
