Sure man, you're more than welcome.
I think your head is in good condition.
No need for repairs.
Study more anatomy, so you know what you are doing. The more anatomy behaviour you add to your brain the more freely you will be able to express your ideas. There is *never* enough anatomy practice. Study the muslces and structure both from observation (life) and books. Books alone are nice, but very dry.
As for technique, I think right now you are at a phase where you are still afraid to go in with rendering and possibly mess things up. That's okay.
You may want to try and build up your masses more, more simple shapes, in prespective. Visualizing the masses would be the first step, and rendering them would be a natural second.
Keep posting, and keep drawing.

I'll keep drawing. Can't help myself. Thanks for the advice Eyal, i've never really studied anatomy intentionally :)
I'll have to invest in a good anatomy book. Looking for something more naturalistic, from corpses would be good! Don't want any of that cliche super-cartoon post stuff, if it can be avoided; got any suggestions?

Hey, thanks for your comment in my sketchbook. I've actually checked yours a couple times but forgot to leave a comment.
I like the last two robots, especially that spear-arm. Very deadly. They've got really cool head shapes.
I think, even though these are sketches, parts of them are a little too sketchy. Try to be a bit more confident in your lines. None of the pictures in the first post really suffer from this, but some of the more recent ones do.
And yeah, you know the whole anatomy spiel, yadda yadda yadda.

Yep. Thanks 0Kelvin, earlier ones were a little more rendered, didn't spend any time on recent sketches, I guess that accounts for the over-sketchiness. & yea, anatomy x1million, got alot to learn. I'll keep drawing and posting. btw, i'm about to graduate highschool! One more danm month of exams, and then i'm done & off to art college! Drawing classes, life drawing, ect. Hopefully i'll get some awesome professors to bash my teeth in!

hey chromatic, yo ve been improving through the thread. the only advice i could give you is try and keep drawing one subject matter until you feel you are successful enough at it to move to a nother subject matter......like figures. mayB just keep drawing figures in all shapes and sizes and positions...once youve completed that, you can move on to creatures......does it make any sense?some people might not garee with me but to each his own.....i hope i was of some help and i will continue to keep an eye out for you! take care! !!! and dont put that pencil down !

Hi man - nice stuff you got going here. A lot of good ideas and eyecatching concepts. I keep returning to the first drawing you posted - the longed legged dude. I think that is really great - there something about it that hits me good. Nice job! Its pretty original dude!I dig the highlight effect and the toned paper - it works really good on that on. You already got some nice crits - thats cool! My crits on that drawing would be; this is smalltime but i would have kept the rules of anatomy even when freaking out - stuff like keeping the same length on the upperlegs and lowerlegs, makes it easier for the eye to accept the weird proportions (same goes for the arms - why not let them have the same lenght? It looks cool the way it is - different lenghts and sizes on both the arms and legs, but maybe the composition would benefit a bit from making it a little less wonky? You are already out there (in the weird zone :} great place btw)Hands and feet are very well drawn - i like those a lot - maybe a little longer fingers to fit the long arms? The chest might be a tad bigger too - and more connected to the raised arm, but not too connected to the other(any of this make sence btw?)I love the idea of the snake coming out of the hand - why didnt i think of that? - but the head reminds me too much of the second mouth in the aliens - nothing wrong with that - it just takes a little attention from the very original concept you invented yourself. Why not just a normal snakehead - thats a powerfull symbol as it is. Like in your last drawing btw - that one i like too - the pose (his feet) takes a bit from him tho - its hard to figure out if hes cool or frozen with fear because of the snake hehe. I dig his face and the idea a lot tho. Those simple linedrawings above it has a very nice look to them too. Some of your drawings are very nice dude and some needs more work - like all sketchbooks you know. But i strongly recommend spending some time working hard on anatomy and headstrukture - since i started paying attention to that it really helped speed things up - made it more easy for me to draw my ideas. It might feel like it will limit you to start with, but work with it and sometimes around it - its a fun game dude! You already got a really good sence of proportions and stuff, so its just about understanding(knowing a few latin names will get you chicks hehe) and refining. Just keep working man - everything is gonna be cool - its good stuff already and can only be better! Oh btw - on the first drawing - what would it look like if one of the blades(?) on the sissor was in front of the first leg - that would make my eyes hurt in a perfect delightfull way :$ Stuff can be pushed big steps with small modifications really. Hope this rubbish made just a little bit of sence.
Keep drawing dude - your stuff is good!

Through a couple of them in here just in case. 6 days till I go to college, then maybe I can do some figure drawing.. from life! One thiing that u want to start paying attention to is to start defining a definite light source, It would help to strengthen ur drawings, more. U still have some issues with anatomy and still need some work, Life drawing is the solution! If u already doing it, keep at it and don't stop! It will be interesting to see how much u will have attained if u keep at it, until next year good luck will try to drop by, to see what is going on from time to time, holla!:yayca:

I'm working on a creature that lives in ant-like colonies. I'm attempting to combine some ant, crab/lobster, spider, and rhino features into this thing. The idea is that they'll have a hive mind, becoming more intelligent in larger quantities, and have a set of legs that are adapted mouth pieces and manipulators. There will be flying drones, queens, and several other castes. Also, they are going to have insect and mammal slaves (including people) that they herd or force to labor.

Ay crunker junk- Nice design, I especially like the snapping turtle looking mouth. The fur on the back kind of reminds me of Shadow of Co...oh you know.
I say I like this image how it is- with the low key lighting and such, but I think having an extra image to the side with the creature lit well would of been fresh.
I saw you words on my sb thread, don't think you getting away without me noticing! I'm hoping to get in on some life drawing soon. My awesome neighbor Craig has been telling me about something he goes to.

Cool stuff in here. I like the recent creature designs. My critiques would be to post more often (!), and maybe try pushing the value range some more to get more striking light and shadow. However, I do kind of like how the most recent piece is gloomy and somewhat low-contrast.

hey, nice work all around man. love the recent creatures and your self portraits. I can't believe you carved your head in the snow man, cool.
general observation: whenever you've got a solid reference photo, the jump in quality is dramatic. for a crit, I'd say use more refs in general perhaps - even when making new creatures (like, a shot of a lion's leg can guide the anatomy choices for any muscle based predator). Only other advice might be to add more chiaroscuro to your work - heighten the contrast, with some darker darks and brighter brights, and dramatic complimentary color shading - these would make your sketches, portraits, etc really stand out. Keep up the good work and I'll see you at the faberge COW!

Your Faberge Dragon is also great imho it was a good decision to choose less saturated hues. I like the values and the tone of the first sketch with the dead elephant better.
Granted the pose of the elephant is better in the third version but somehow the picture is too bright then and the eery horror athmosphere from the initial sketch is lost. Iīd love to see you work that over. The light blue ends of the pincers just donīt sit well with me. But thatīs just me. Feel free to disregard all that and do whatever you want. ;) :yayca:

You've got some great monsters in here man! Maybe try doing some more value studies and thumbnails just to really push you dramatic camera angles and lighting. If it doesn't work on a thumbnail, it won't when it's full size. If you start out really rough with no fear or restraint, then start to carve something out of it. It's not only fun, but for me it really made a difference to the quality of my stuff. Peace!

I really like the colourwork you put into your imaginative works.
Like has already been mentioned, work on your technical skills like general construction and valuework as well as building that image library of how things work and look in your head. These pieces show great promise, some of your concepts are just nuts.
