This is the first official released image from the upcoming Ghost Rider movie. What do you guys think?

http://www.superherohype.com/news.php?id=2834

I'm not too crazy about it. Looks like something from The Discover Channel’s Biker Build off. Has anyone stumbled across any concept art from this movie yet? Also not happy with Nic Cage staring in the lead role. But who knows what could happen...

edit: took out the pic and put in the hyperlink because I'm fucking HTML retarded.

ok, "super" bikes in movies usually pisses me off, why?

well....

First off the designers usually dont have a fucking HINT of what a motorcycle does, and hows it does it, and why....

ive been riding dirtbikes for a couple of years now (7-8 to be exact) and i know that a dirtbike would fit for most of situations, that ghost rider bike will probably be jumped over roof tops and shit.

i dont know... i just get pissed off thats all, but in a way, if that bike only will stay on the ground and not do some super idiot shit i think ill be happy.

That things is the cheesiest bike ever conceived... :nohope:
Besides it has little to do with the original bike, at least have the good sense of using a vintage bike like the first Ghost Rider.
A Vincent Black Shadow or something like that.

Well, I'm not real familiar with Ghost Rider's story, but I get the impression it's not supposed to be a real bike that would have to obey any traditional motorbike design rules. I mean, most bikes probably wouldn't work real well if their tires were set on fire.

Nicholas Cage always manages to surprise me. He either totally pulls something off I never even had an idea he was capable of, or he completely fails at something that should've been easy for him. I hope he can pull this off.

Have any of you noticed the quality of Marvel's movies going down? Blade 3 (which wasn't awful), Elektra(horrible), Swamp Thing, that Fantastic Four movie that actually looks as bad as the direct-to-conventions one. It just seems to me as though Marvel has gotten into the thought process of eye candy over story and I am afraid Ghost Rider will be no different. Though Nicholas Cage hasn't been in a movie I thought was complete garbage in a long long time. I am still afraid they won't try to tell a unique story because of the Hulk (which I loved except for Nick Nolte's acting at the very end "You Just watch me go!" couldn't have gotten any lamer) lackluster performance in the theaters.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who feels that way. I think they pretty much peaked at X2 so far. And from what I've seen of Fantastic 4.... :nohope:

Man Thing is reportedly so bad it's going straight to the Sci-Fi Channel. (I think it airs in two weeks). I don't understand why it's so hard to make an adaptation of comic into a movie? As soon as the rights are purchased for a property, the producers set off and change the source material. Why? It's because of the original stories that people like the character(s). If you *points at Hollywood* are going to alter the comics so much, why don't you just come up with an original story and leave the comics alone?! Fuckers.

I agree with 0kelvin about Nicholas Cage. Just when I think he can do no wrong (Raising Arizona, Face Off) he comes out with a bunch of duds (The Rock, 8mm). I think we can be grateful that he's The Ghost Rider and not Superman like he was going to be under Tim Burton.

I still have hopes for Batman Begins. Please god, let it be good.

apparently they are making a movie that's a combination of the Johnny Blaze and Danny Ketch storylines. The bike is somewhat in the original chopper/stunt driver Johnny Blaze style. Somewhat trying to appeal to that Evil Kanevil fad.

then in the early 90s he got re-invented into this really hard core style

Ghost Rider is really one of those characters that you don't want to sit through an origin storyline, you just want some bad ass hard core action. You want to see the Flaming Skull not Nic Cage's face. It's the reason we go to see Godzilla, Friday the Thriteenth films or read punisher comics. We just want to see some adrenlin action.

I agree, it seems like an odd choice for a movie. I guess they are going down the line, throwing crap against the wall to see what sticks... Havent seen Electra yet, but so far Catwoman takes the stupidity cake.

That was a great comic on so many levels.... Spidey holding a shotgun.... for about 4 pannels. Seriously, Marvel should consider making VS movies.... they might suck, but atleast it would satisfy a lot of fanboys wet dreams. Considering since some of these heavily hyped films didn't go so well, there could be new life if they did some kind of spin off VS. Punisher VS Dardevil, Hulk VS Wolverine, or Blade VS Ghost Rider. I doubt it can happen considering studio involvement, and I bet that Fox doesn't have the right for Silver Surfer or the Watcher if they wanted to do a Glactius storyline for the Fantastic Four.

if that's the one where hobgoblin and demogoblin and deathwatch(?) are involved too, that's the one.that was awesome beyond belief. one thing that confuses me though is that they always say blaze and ghost rider are the same person, but in this comic they're not.what is correct now?

The main problem is that Marvel sold the movie rights to most of their comics in the late seventies, which have been sold back and forth to different production and development companies in the years since. Just tryng to find out who has the rights to two characters that you'd want to see fight, much less purchasing the movie rights to both of them, would be a really huge undertaking/expense to take on for such a risky project.

That being said, one of my favorite comic VS. that I remember from my youth was a Daredevil VS. Yellowjacket back in the '70s. How many differnt times did the Silver Surfer and The Hulk go at it?

Carnifex - Yup, that's the issue, Resurection of Deathwatch during the whole Infinity War storyline (hence the Doupleganger and Demon Goblin). Actually, Johnny Blaze and Ghost Rider are different people. The Ghost Rider in this era was Danny Ketch, if I'm not mistaken I believe the storyline was that that Ghost Rider was going out of control Danny couldn't control him that Johnny Blaze had to come down..... I might be wrong, it's been while since I read Ghost Rider.

Tommy Thumbscrew - Yup, and now with Marvel liecencing the rights to every studio I doubt it's going to happen soon. Still, there are a lot of studios out there trying to figure out how to make Hulk sequel, Daredevil sequel, and Punisher sequel work even after they got luke warm receptions. I think the answer would be simple, but I doubt studio greed would have anything to say about it. By the way, I loved recently in the Punisher VS Wolverine fight by Garth Ennis...... wow! Steamroller...... wow!
