21 I find then the principle that evil is present in me, the one who wants to do good.
22 For I joyfully concur with the law of God in the inner man,
23 but I see a different law in the members of my body, waging war against the law of my mind and making me a prisoner of the law of sin which is in my members.
24 Wretched man that I am! Who will set me free from the body of this death?
Romans 7:21-24
I feel the same way all the time Andrew. This passage is the first thing that came to my mind when I read your post.

heh is this portrait really hommage to donnie darko? it's a good portrait (lowered the contrast again eh)
mindcandy: i think cradle of filth used that passage for their album "principle of evil made flesh"... just useless info :)

for starters I love the Donnie darko movie, that line of dialog was definately ratteling around in my dome when I painted this,
humpy- thank you, I started this one very abstract and graphic, the contrast was exegarated my my mood.
davi, when I studdied ala prima painting in an accademy I was taught to make all the facial brush strokes at perpinduclar angles to the serrations of the musscles, thats hos seargent painted, I respect the premise but I dont always like my personal results, I was in a rule breaking kind of mood.
octave- mee to its one of my faves, if you have ever read any carlos castaneda books, its gives some intresting insights to the visuals
mindcandy- Amen my brother
life is a struggle, and each of us is our greatest enemy,
make it a good fight. we are all like pices of angels and devils trapped inside animal shells.
lung-bug I wouldant call it a hommage, but it was an inspiration
I like lung_bug name more than mr T.
Artsaveslives- Im glad you like the highlights, they actually arent blue, its an illusion, the color tone is in reality a very low saturated red,
I originaly painted eyes but it felt much more powerfull without them, and it gave the portrait a mask like feel, i have been told by some people that they have began living vicariously through my portraits, in a way this portrait symbolizes that type of obeservation.
