Hey High y´all
Here´s a little something that won´t get any more finished as it is. Pitty I only have this crappy digipic. Maybe I can get my hands on the original long enough to get another decent shot. One and a half years old, btw. (the painting)
This was my first try with UV-Glow Acrylics on canvas. (75cm * ?cm) I only had blue, orange and red. Five days with an average of three hours/ day. No refs. Neither for the dragon, nor fer the girl which was, btw, a huuuge satisfaction fer me.
It instantely became a 30th birthday present right after I finished it. Completely forget about the b-day and it was the only thing handy and he really, REALLY deserved it.
I could use some strong critics here. so fire away.

Colors... so... bright... MY EYES!!!!
The fact that you got those colors by hand and not by computer makes it that much cooler. :)

this image has really, really intense colours (well, gee... really?!). i have trouble looking at it for too long... my poor retinae (retinas? retina?).
the design looks great. I love the borders: semi Oriental; semi circuit-board.
One note about the lines - every object in the image has a thick black outline (the girl, dragon's body) except for the dragon's head. the fact that his orange scales are on a red background make it even harder to, well, define his head. this inconsistency is a shame because there's alot of great detail and shape in his face that are hard to pick-out.
different, bright and well done. i'm sure whomever you gave it to was very happy with it.

if the heart shape symbolizes the love between the woman and the dragon, it would be nice to see them interacting more, unless of course your concept was to make the dragon a spirit of the woman. The space itself is shallow yet the strong compliments and saturation make the woman pop out of the picture. It would be interesting to see this image without the woman. The dragon seems much more cared for in detail. The six blue orbs/fireballs around the outside seem too close in color with the center objects, distracting from the woman/dragon. Some of the negative space between the woman and dragon make my eye feel "caught" as well.

Humpface. let me flame your ass for every single time ive read peoples such comments, theres no chance he'll alter the pose of the chick and the dragon now anyways so give it up.
no bs, the circuitboard oriental stuff kick some heavy gonads. really like the whole thing. I bet the bright colors look real cool irl too:)
If you were here Id buy u a beer.

A "wormy" dragon??? *Feh*
Have you earthly bound human WORM never heard of the mighty god of the sky, the ancient lifebringer, the feathered flying snake "Quetzalquatl"???
( misspelling not intended but possible)
I´d rather have some profesionall critics on Anatomy or structure or composition than puny "I like asians better". Anyway, thanks for posting.

well. I don't know if this counts as "profesionall" critic but it might help.
Her right leg is having anatomy problems in the knee joint area. The bones look dislocated (eek!)
The length of the leg (knee/foot) is too long even compared to her left leg.
Now in term of layout, I feel that the flames from the dragon are pulling the eye out of the painting.. which is a real shame because the painting in itself is very nice.
The medium you're using sounds really interesting ! Do you actually see which colour they'll be when you paint under normal light ? (Do you even paint under standard light that is)
I realllly like those .. er.. decorum on the border of the painting. It doesn't look borrowed but *inspired* - which is great.
Plus you used my favorite colours of the moment.. extra points for that ! :)
ege-
P.S.:Any crit even from ppl who aren't on a pedestal is valid. Any form of input that *might* bring the artist to question themselves, their work, techniques or even spark new ideas is priceless ! Isn't it better to have more than not enough ?

 There we go! I like the bright colors and the more simplistic details of the woman's body. The designs on the piece are nice. My eyes are pulled straight to the woman, you made a good focal point.

Oooo-kay. Wormy dragon sounds downsizing to me. Like in "you worthless worm, you".
If you were just refferring to the general shape of the dragon, okay. I guess you could call it ...*ha-rumph* wormy.

I took asain for asian. And since they´re "wormy" too it figures. Thought about it , but I REALLY wanted to draw a feathered snake like Quezalquatl.
Check the mayan pantheon. It´s worth it.
