Please! need help with Painter

This has been pissing me off to no end. I am new at using painter and I have a problem, I will try to describe the best I can. I am trying to out an image away from its white background and paste it over another one. The problem is when I use the magic wand to to select the image I want what is inside what I selected. Is there anyway to cutout what is not selected, if you know what I mean? Thanks

I want to take this background

Can't see the images

1st,
are you drawing in layers?
As in photoshop you can use layers to keep each element
an easy to manipulate item.
As far as selecting goes (I don't have Painter uo right now)
there should be a 'reverse select' choice on a pull down menue on the tool bar.
You may have to look for it.
So if you select an area and then go to the reverse select and click,
the area around the box is selected and visa-versa.

Painter is an awsome program once you get used to it.
Android made most of his self portraits using it.

why would you want to put a small red x behind a another small red is beyond me.. well here ya go.... first pick up the picture..it will take some heavy lifting >:{ ..alright you got it.. :404sign: ...now stop and think where your putting it down at... :thinking: ...okay were ready to pick up the next picture... :muscle: ..thats it you got it!... :404sign: ....now just take this one slide it under the other one.... :painting: .....now heres the tricky part.. :404: :traced: :404: :404sign: ...did you get that..GOOD!!!
