Hello, I have recently purchased Corel Painter IX. I am used to photoshop for various colouring and activities, but I felt a need for change and a better painting style. So anyone know places where I can learn various techniques and what tools do etc for painter? Thanks.

Not much of a reply but:
Yeah, in the same boat. I've been using photoshop for about 7years now, and I'm so used to it, I've become an idiot when it comes to painter, I've got 9 aswell. I can't always go online to check out the tutorials the program provides, and I'd rather get advice from the pro's on this forum.
Tutorials!Tutorials!Tutorials!Tutorials!Tutorials! plsplspls!

Take a look at this link. There are free video lessons (blue links) on the left hand column. These are good enough to get beginners started. Since it is for Painter 8, you will need to refer to Painter IX help to relate to your version in some instances. Can always pay for the full lessons if you find them relevant.

You may want to check out lynda.com-they have a bunch of tutorials, and the monthly download tutorials ($25 per month) is really worth it-I think its one of the best investments I have made!-

I got Painter IX some weeks ago and i had the same probs.
So i asked certain artists to help me.
After I had found out how Painter works I have written my "How to color with Painter IX" tutorial:

I hope it helps!

Frustrating. Seeing all those marvelous pieces of art here done in Painter and having Painter on my pc, but.. no knowledge of how to use it.
It's so overwhelming, all those functions and brushes and settings.
And I don't really have the money to buy tutorials from the net.
Is there anyone who's good at it willing to give us a nice big tutorial? Bit like Panda's but maybe even more detailed?

Paint 7 tut (http://http://www.deviantart.com/deviation/17861903/)
I did not write this tutorial. It should be pretty helpful. It was orginally written for Painter 7 but the tut can be applied to Painter 9.

The link in your post doesn't work because there's an extra "http : //" in it.
Here's a working link:

Also, for anyone who doesn't understand Painter IX Layers and Layer Masks, they're quite different from Painter 7 Layers and Layer Visibility Masks. Without having read the tutorial, I'll suggest that it may be confusing for a beginner to Painter IX. Still, it won't hurt to read it and see if you can figure things out.
Good luck!

Well if you read the post the links are for the tutorials....why would they post a dodgy site? It's fine.
