That Star Wars reference of yours was also used in "Boogie Nights"... a hi-fi stereo model, if I remember correctly. Is it your technique to blob first - smudge later? :)

Yo! You finally posted dude! Post some more of your Mutineers Moon mech designs so people can see the more details of your design and ink style. You have a pretty damn fast inking techqiue, I'm suprised it only took a little more than an hour. Lets seeeeee moooore bwahaha!

very nice interior and exterior. i like the way you left the thruster exposed. the extended extra piece on the A (???)pillar in the interior view is a nice touch too because it seems more personalized.

March 5th, 2003, 02:02 PM
OMG. That is the tightest interior ever!!! You gotta tell us how you did that. Rulers? French curves? Pen types?

Man!! Now I know where Chris learned how to beef up his mechanical drawing skills!! These drawings are unbelievable!! Your vehicle concept is very original and I love the interior cockpit perspective/design/technique..... everything!! I would love to see more of your stuff!!!

Hey Rad,
Yeah dude, it's all about the rulers and french curves, thats what he used to make sure his lines where fluent and exact.
Jeff, yeah Chads crisp line techniques helped me clean up my mech work. I wasn't quite aware of how much you can pull off with the templets and rulers.

I use the curves/templates to clean mech stuff up because they need a hard line, figures i prefer to ink freehand because the line has more character.
I have gotten to the point where i prefer to just block out the basics then go to the inks just because its quicker for me, if i'm unsure how something works i draw it in with pencil first. all the detail is just fluff and wouldnt work if the overall shape wasnt strong first.

Great Mecha. That's a brilliant pose.
On the background, how about something in a bit of a contrast to the technology, like some long grass?
Keep 'em coming, this is top stuff.:)

chad, these are all incredible. your line work is so clean...
given the shocked/surprised expression, how about this: a city street setting. have a bright light coming from infront of the 'bot (from the direction of whatever it's looking at). there are crowds of (or maybe just a few) people running away from the source of light (source of surprise/fear), behind the 'bot.
"just when he thought he had won, it arrived..."
nice work. thanks for sharing.

Well here it is in color dont know if i am satisfied or not I am too tired i need to go to bed and look at it again later.
Kennedy: I like the idea of the contrasting I think organic against a mech would look nice so i'll give it a shot when i get the chance. For now I threw in a quick background.

R M: thanks i hope to just keep adding to this thread now and again, i am trying to discipline myself by working on more of my own personal work.
Brokencow: Nicholas rocks with his mechs! you can do it easily just push yourself.
Kay: thanks
SOUPFACE: I like the idea of adding those people, i just think a setting like MAUI would be cooler, dontcha think?
Yasek:Thanks
CHUCK!: c'mon man i still want a copy of that binder full of your work...That stuff is awesome!

DOH! Busted...That movie is the coolest.:D I could go on and on about Lilo & Stitch.
I have had this thing all my life with surfing style and clothing etc. strange enough i have had a subscription to surf mags for years There is a huge pile of em in my closet. i have been land locked in Texas all my life, and have tried surfing twice on trips and can say it is tough and i want to do it again.
The first time I tried surfing I didnt wear a shirt and my chest was rubbed raw from the surf board ouch!!

Damn, Chad, your level of detail gets me every time. That last robo-mech-whatzit is fantastic, but that color pass isn't quite working for me. Oh, kudos on fantastic line weight control too.
Given that it seems tobe having an emotional moment, for some reason its pose to me suggests having his back in a corner...with all that detail, a bunch of dramatic perspective lines leading right to him could be sweet.

AAArrrgh ChadTHX1138! what the...?!?
when I saw your colors on the robot the first time I got a bit worried for you. This is my second look at it, and I have to admit it has grown on me, and I think you should just keep it like that.
My only questions is, what scares this Badass robot so much uh?
