Looks pretty tight to me...But, I though Phil was getting to be a fat bastard these days...yeah and sorry, Metallica has definitely lost their Heavy metal crown...and Pantera...seems they've been going down hill ever since Vulgar Display of Power...But anyhow the pic looks good...the tats look real nice...

ok ok.. OLD metallica. thats what i meant to say. in justice for all,, jump inthe fire,, ride the lightning,, etc.
those guys were opening doors in metal back when pantestacle was still dancing around the stage in spandex.
the neck is too fat, especially around the adams apple area. see how it bells out at the bottom?
his face doesnt quite look like phil. eyes are also a bit crooked aswell.
arms look good.

The art is cool man post a bigger one.
word from here in the DFW area, Pantera is broken, nada, zippo. But I've got tickets to Metallica's show here in august. hmm, who rules?
Also my brother in law was a paramedic and a few years back he watched Phil die (o.d.) for a few seconds before they nailed him with some counter drugs and he came back swearing and stuff. The guys a frickin animal. Last time I saw him He looked more like a heavy Charley Manson
anyway, great drawing. Post bigger.

Preach on my metallica brethren. Come on skullskip, you can't put over a decade of metal dominance in the shitter because you didn't like one album, besides they have a new one coming out soon, perhaps you'll like.:evilbat:

i'll give it to u that the old metallica is good, but you cant look me in the face and tell me that anything that they have released since the black album has been worth shit.
mcotie, i will post a larger pic and ill also post the reference photo,... just incase u dont know where its from. anyone down with pantera can just grab their copy of vulgar display of power and see for themselves.
thanx for the crits,... keep em coming

hehe ok matt ill give you a real crit...unlike my rant at eatpoo ;)
i think the top of his head is a little large in your pic...like he has a swelled cranium. and the neck looks a little weird. but you know what? i dont care i love this pic...you did an amazing job on the tattoos (tats are cool...cough cough who said that?) and yeah metallica is so not even close to the awesomeness of pantera...granted they have good songs...sure...but so does hootie and the blowfish... hehe i love making fun of hootie...an easy target. anyways...great work matt i want to see what you used that graveyard pic for.

p.s. no metal band even comes close to being as awesome as windir. (download "dance of mortal lust" and youll see what i mean)

Pantera is a Glam Rock band in disguise.:P
I saw em on the reinventing the steel tour, I only went for the back up band (Powerman 5000)
PM5k rocked my socks with their scifi sound and made me a fan for life.
Pantera however, cause me to actually fall asleep.:xx:

PM5K's sound is a diluted version of White Zombie, who is just a diluted version of Ministry.

Back to the critics! I donīt give a damn about that band.
Is that a beard or a shadow at his chin? Also looks like heīs gotta
huuuuge neck.
And if you think Metallica lost....look at Ozzy. Manowar at least stuck to their shit. Only I donīt care anymore.

PowerMan 5000 is Rob Zombies little brother Spider...and friends...I think that's why they share a sound...

How old are you dudes???
Lono I may be a bigger dork, I used to hang with Anthrax......
I guess I may be ancient to most of you, but for the music argument, Pantera got their sound from the likes of Metallica... Pantera was actually a glam band when they first hit the scene, Phil had the huge blond hair, it was hilarious... then they found their niche and yes they did kick ass.. but put it on the table... they ripped Metallica, because they listened to Metallica while they were kept after school for detention... (and to defend my points, maybe go back a bit further in metal history, long before the Jason Newsted's, long before the MTV generation and find some Metallica... Kill em All, Ride the Lightning, Weed Killer and Sugar (probably haven't heard of that one?????), .... Pantera LOL they're good, don't get me wrong, but c'mon)
but to not get off topic.... the art is good there are some issues with the facial features... they seem like they are all shifted (just a slight bit off of where they should be) it seems like you may have concentratd on details before you conquered the form, and for things like the hands, be careful with shade detailing so specifically.. when you do that you start to add too many nuances to something that should be handled pretty cleanly, then you give off the appearance of what he seems to have... that being old people hands....
think of the general shapes ( the blocky shapes you see when you squint at something) render those in and selectively add detail.. for the most part you could stay away from the fine deatiling and stil have a kick as piece of art..
good luck
