Hey, my name is Sanya and I'm a complete newbie to this board (go easy on me! :D) I'm not a fine arts student or anything and I'm not really involved in any formal art stuff but drawing is my life and I try to do it as much as possible-- the margins on my class notes can testify to that! :D
..and so, without further adieu!

These sketches are a little dated.. Right now I'm trying to focus on emoting in my artwork, as well as the perpetual goal of constantly improving my anatomy and perspectives. :D

you have alot of good stuff going on here.
one thing to note, in the last one, her left arm is a little on the small side. I know its in perspective, but still, its not consistent with the rest of the picture, if the legs and the hand in the foreground were larger, then it would have fit into an "extreme" perspective thing.
still, nice job on it.

Thanks... I didn't have any sort of ref for that one so I'm surprised there's not more wrong with it.. It should be bigger then, huh?

It's hard to crit style, so I'll crit the one aspect of these pieces that caught me. the second to last piece? Her upper body seems far too bulky as opposed to her lower half. Hmmm....
Great stuffs!
It truly is ridiculously cool. All the women I could ever want!

Puuurrrty good. Now if you'd just let us Concept Arter's mold you and refine you... lol :rendered: I'm gonna say more studies, life and anatomy. The faces are a bit wonky in areas. Proportional issues and sometimes they seem flat... I mean... just some study time invested would help. If you catch me. You're quite good for someone with no training! Just think of what you'd be like if you really got some help! Be open. It certainly helps. If you care to grow, that is. Nice start!!

Thanks for the crit Zebz! Didn't exactly raise the spirits, but it was honest and I appreciate that. :) I love drawing anatomy studies but had gotten out of it the habit just recently for fear of becoming dependant on them... though if what you say it true, I should probably pick them up again.. personally I think my anatomy is pretty good but I guess it's all subjective.. :P
As for faces, I absolutely agree! It's never been my strong point and so I've been working desperately to try and put together a sort of base structure that I can use comfortably to build my faces... so far, I haven't made too much progress... I'm guessing I should probably get my act together on that front too, eh?
Anyway, once again, that you for your Zebz, and thank you to everyone who've commented thus far, I really appreciate it! :D
Oh, also csteingart! I know, you get to thinking of the Peg as a waste land after a while, I keep forgetting that there might be other people here with internet access and an interest in art! I really like your coloring style, btw!
And so you all don't feel cheated...

I guess I sounded a bit harsh and I apologize for that. :dead: I didn't mean to come off as a jerk. I just meant that in areas things seem off, proportionally and such. Like your faces at times and hands in several. that was partially what I meant. Other things like, how you render the form... anatomy studies might clear up some of the ways you render sometimes. Sometimes the paints come off as plasticy or like their dolls... if you catch me. Now all of this comes down to style type things which is fine. I'm not knocking ya. I'm just saying that if you want true growth, life studies and anatomy are the way to go. And if you really push those for a while you'll see a huge improvment in the work you like to do, like the fun stuff your doing now. It all starts with traditional skills, I guess is where I'm going with this. Get back to the basics and then when you get back to the stuff you like, you'll see that you've leveled up. Just don't close yourself off to one style. I'm rambling. I just got to work and it's early. I hope some of this made sense. You've got a great thread rockin' up in here! Just keep it up. The last one is quite nice... but again, the face is awkward, y'know? Like the eyes for example... if she's trying to wink it sure doesn't look sexy. Why would she looking down? Just little stuff like that. Ok... I gotta roll. Keep it comin'!

Naah, don't worry about it Zebz. You usually expect "harsh" to be really cutting, ham fisted crits. Actually you were very articulate, it's just that no one really likes to be told that they're "quite good" and have a "nice start" after 15 years of thoughtful effort, you know? Like, just because I don't have a formal education doesn't mean I lack refinement...
But hey, your actual crits were very appropriate, and I really, honestly do appreciate it. So like I said, don't worry about it. If anything, please keep me on my toes. :)
And so no one feels jipped!
This one is a little older, but until I can get myself to a scanner, this is all I've got! And for a little background, this is my OC whose closet resembles a "world history past the 8th century" illustrated text book, hehe.

You are improving. At the beginning, you had many proportional errors. Towards your latest updates, you have very few. Only a few questions--how many of these are from a reference? Do you ever sketch anyhting out in pencil? I would like to see that.

Thanks, it's good to know I'm improving!
Umm, technically only one of these is purely from reference, and that's the picture of Davey Havok (last of March 31st) which is literally a photograph I drew out. But the very first picture I posted is partially from reference too, since I was unsure about the angle. Otherwise everything is sadly my own doing.. :P
I rarely do pencil studies, actually, just because they smudge so much... but I do -use- pencils, the Davey Havok sketch and the bright blue one at the top of March 31st are both in pencil. :)

Wow. Very nice work. Sometimes your anatomy is off a bit, but it looks like it may be on purpose. Hey who's anatomy isn't off every once in a while. Keep it up!
