Hey, I thought I'd start one of these things off, I have actually been keeping sketchbooks for a year or two now so this first post is mostly stuff from those but its all the recent stuff.

hand studies:

Street observations:

(eddie is the local alcoholic who hangs around a shop I work in, we are nice to him and for some reason he doesn't like puddles and tries to sweep them uphill)

Day to day sketchs:

This is paul, one my friends, he fell asleep one night after quite a bit of intoxication and I drew him.

Doodles:

Good to see a handful of people joining the sketchbook group daily!

Healthy start to your sketchbook, especially the 3 hands (the third one is your best out of everything, I think).

From what you've shown here, the only real critique I can give is to use less lines. Thinking about the forms and line placement before you even touch the paper is a great way to really learn what you're looking at and what you're about to draw, and in the end looks neater, too, even for sketches!

Keep drawing and post some more. Fear not the scanner!

Ian

PS - Really like your avatar!

Thanks for looking Ian,

Yeah I do tend to use too many lines, one of my tutors from a portfolio course I did said that I try to paint with pencils ... It kind of made sense to me and I tend to draw that way out of habit because I get proportions better But i'm making an effort to keep the lines down too.

Here is something I did to one of my sketches with a wacom.

Still getting used to it, Im lucky I know my way around ps or else moving to a wacom would have been hell.

Big improvement from the sketch! Not to sure the hair would be that high since the face is pretty much facing straight, looks like her skull has been stretched upwards to me. Anyone PLEASE correct me if I'm wrong!

Good to see you updating already, keep it up and thanks for the post in my sketchbook.

I think the girl was done stylistically, but I would slim the hips and make her a bit taller. Just me, though.

Great studies!

Thanks man, the red one is dangerous if you're intoxicated though... tends to freak people out for some reason.

These may not look great but this took 5 minutes and I seem to be ablt to see clearer through them as how to get the the finished piece although that is yet to be proven.

Nothing much else, I was busy working on a flash site for someone.

your painting skills are improving. i noticed a mistake in your last one though on his left hand the thumb is infront of the sowrd. it just looks awkward holding it that way. looks like the sowrd wouldnt be that stable. keep practicing man.
