It's a recent cover for a RPGbook...
I've tried something completly different from usual. ( it was also to be homogeneous with the lasts covers of this game )
No 3D, just photoshop...I've scanned some strange objects lying on the floor at home and played with them:)

I think I'll do some other pieces like this one later
It was funny to do and the result seems to be cool

Oh yea..This is really a different one...There are some different patterns in it...
I loved the wood effect on them...
And the blue eye is cool too...there are some writings on background i think...coolness man...
wanna see the others...:chug:

Looks mighty nice. What filters did you use? Do you happen to know what filters are used by many of the pros here to give their pieces that old dirty scractched look? :)

i don't think there is a specific formula "to give pieces that old dirty scractched look"...
Each time for me it's a different thing... Sometimes just brushstrokes effects, sometimes photographic textures, sometimes just paint splashes, photographs...

i certainly used a lot of layers for this one, overlay and others.
Add a little bit of that here, another touch of that here..Play with the layer's opacity, darken or lighten some areas, draw the relief
there's also a lot of happy accidents, even if I know where i want to go.
i had to recreate a texture covering the whole piece first, using some objects i keep at home
