A bit of the work I did on a personal project, trying to develop some kinda feel for Neil's novel SnowCrash... It's all still in sketch format. I was going for some kind of acid pallet. Just some conceptual work. Also, I know Raven doesn't look like he has his trademark tattoo... I didn't like the look of the text on the image, it looked like weird acne in the highlights.

I would like you to replace your opening line with "I am pitching this as a graphic novel to Neil" beacuse this is awesome work all around, loved the book, and all of these live up to being something more than just sketching it out.

Excellent design work on top of solid skills and a gifted eye...

I hope you keep posting here; you're going to give a lot of folks a lot of inspiration (like me).

Wow these are fuckin spectacular. I love these designs, and your environments look insanely amazing. You've got a shitload of talent. I have to see more!

One question tho. Is that guy with the nuclear parking cone on his back supposed to have a cold? Cause the redness of his nose rivals that of Rudolph the reindeer. haha, take care.

very cool, definitely feels like the book when you look at em. although, i saw raven as a bigger dude, or at least I imagined him to be more fear-inducing, stout and rough around the edges... but that's my take, so disagree if you want. :)

very solid collection of images.

I was scrolling through enjoying the pictures when I hit the city scape with the hanging shoes and I litterally went "Whoa". It takes a lot to get that out of me like that. Awesome!

And that last guy, man talk about having a chip on your shoulder! "Don't fuck with me" pretty much goes unsaid!

Hahaha, too true. Raven in the book is a Russian Inuit, so I figured I would go for the full gin blossom. Good eye.

I feel ya, I tried to put in his awesome system of political immunity to show some scale. He is carrying a warhead like it's a Louis Vuitton. I agree with the rough around the edges... I did alot of sketches of him with his nappy facial hair as described in the book, but I liked him better without the fu manchu. Thanks!

Those are amazing. The landscapes are so realistic. Especially the one with the sneakers at the top, it looks almost like a shot from a movie.

Really excellent work here. I'm glad to see an artist take the plunge to design Neal's stuff...

Couple of questions. Is there a reason you decided to give Hiro the translucent visor as opposed to the goggles? I'd always loved the bug-eyed image of him goggled into his deck.

No real complaints on Ng (if I remember his name right), although some of your conceptual sketches have a much grittier, "found object" feel to his medical equipment...

... but what happened to Raven's tattoo?
