Hey there!
I am currently trying out that cross-hatch technique but i got a few problems coming...

First of all the picture:
It shows a little tin can thingy placed on my desktop for small garbage kind of stuff.

Well the problem i got is, that i´m not sure where to put those strokes. When do i have to stay with the overall lines, and where can i just cross-hatch to death?

I hope you all do understand what i just meant, because my english is not that good...
Any hints, crits, comments and so on would greatly be appreciated.

Thanks el_kyrre

Number one, if I were you, I'd say just experiment to death with the hatching. I know it took me quite awhile to figure out something that works and I'm still digging it into the ground and trying to work it in a new direction. I usually follow the form when I do it. I don't cross-hatch that much, just a personal preference. I think cross-hatching can look too messy sometimes, sometimes I like it for the piece. Really just depends on the values your rendering and the direction of the form. I probably just confused the hell out of you, I think I just confused myself as well, but hopefully you get some sort of meaning out of this.
