I just gotten a book with maya learning edition in it for Easter. It is awesome and I love learning how to use it. My question is can i save my work as anything other than a Maya file? like a jpeg or somethin? thanx

the name of the learning edition i got that is on the book says Maya Personal LEarning Edition if that helps at all

No to save the actual 3d file it must be in either maya binary or maya ascii. if you are looking to save just the image that is on the screen then after it is rendered then the image can be saved as a tiff or jpeg whatever. There are a number of plugins to convert files to allow them to be imported or exported to and from other 3d programs. stay with it there is a lot to maya and you can never stop learning. a great tool i used to leard the basics of maya was the gnomon workshop dvd's.
