Pressure sensitive WACOM

Hello people,
this problem might sound completly idiotic to some, but to me it has halted my painter7 work, and I have forced me to move back to classic.

I have a wacom Intuos2 tablet, that works perfectly well with Painter classic, but in Painter7 I don't have pressure sensitivity anymore. Might as well just work with a mouse!

I have been playng with the various brush settings, but can't get it to work. I am sure it is a setting lost somewhere that I have to toggle on...

Any suggestions?

-Brush Controls

-Expression
-there is a size and opacity function, turn them to pressure.

then go to

edit-preferences-brush tracking, and draw and the screen there... if you aren't getting size variation its something to do with your wacom setup..

go to

Start Button in the lower left..
SETTINGS
Control Panel

and go to the wacom tablet, and check your settings..

If you cant figure it out from that.. try and tell us what else you think is going on..

I think in the wacome settings there is a little tiny thing that says draw here.. if you draw on it it should check sensitivity.. if thats not working.. it might be your pen or tablet itself is faulty... Also try and reinstalling your drivers and painter 7 if all else fail

thanks for the reply.
I have been into the expression window, and turned on both size and opacity, but that didn't change the brush outcome.

then I went into preferences to set the brush traking, and there the pressure scale and the pressure power don't get registered. Only the velocity scale and power change.

went into the wacom settings and checked the tip feel but it works fine. Both photoshop, and Painter classic are sensitive to pressure variations, so I dont think the tablet is faulty.

I am lost. I will try to reinstall my wacom tablet, but this is just weird.
Any other suggestions?

I would uninstall Painter 7...

Restart

Reinstall Painter 7.. Restart

Go and downlaod the patch for Painter 7 or any updates they have. install that.. and restart and see if it works then..

Thats all I can guess

Just downloaded the newest wacom drivers, see if that helps. then it is painters turn,
then I don't know...

Hi,

If you're a Mac OS X user, pressure sensitivity was introduced with the Painter 7 Update.

In any case, you should either already have the Painter 7 Update included with your software if you bought it recently, or you need to download and install the Painter 7 Update as it solved a few bugs and also introduced a couple of new things, the Tinting brushes, for instance.

First find out if you already have the Painter 7 Update:

Mac users: Get Info and if it tells you the version is 7.1.357, you have the Painter 7 Update.

Windows users, right click on the Painter7.exe file and choose Properties, click the Version tab and in the lower left panel highlight Product Version. In the right panel, you should see 7.1.357 if you have the Painter 7 Update.

If you need to install the Painter 7 Update (downloadable at http://www.procreate.com) follow all of these steps to avoid problems:

1. Move any files you created into a new folder outside of the Painter 7 folders.

2. Uninstall Painter 7.

3. Reboot.

4. Install Painter 7 and don't open it even one time.

5. Install the Painter 7 Update.

6. Reboot.

7. Check to see if the version number is now 7.1.357 to make sure the installation worked.

8. If it's 7.1.357, launch Painter 7 and have a great time.

Again, you do need to follow all of these steps to avoid problems.

Download and install the latest Wacom driver.

After I bought my new Intuos2 tablet, I had a big problem with pressure sensitivity in some of the Painter versions I have installed, including Painter 7. After talking with a Wacom tech, who told me to delete the wacom.dat file (only on Windows, I'm told), then reboot, everything was fine. The wacom.dat file is regenerated when you reboot. If you're a Windows user and have to do this, you'll need to redo any user settings in the Wacom Properties control panel, but that's not a big deal.

I followed exactly Jin's steps and after all this re-booting (which takes some time, since it's Windows 2000) the right-click still says 7.0.0.0 -
any hints?

If you can see the 'Tinting' brushes category in the default Painter 7 brushes library then you have the latest update installed.
