alternative to Watts?

Hi all -
was looking to go get some figure drawing and painting. as an alternative to the watts studio - where id love to go - do any of you guys kow this place:
bridgeview art school NY (http://www.academicart.com/) ?

its in NY so id be able to stay with friends and that would save me some money.

any comments greatly appreciated.

The best way to judge a school is by the student work, and to be honest that place does not look very strong. If you are looking for a place to study in NY, checkout The Art Students League, The Water Street Atelier, and The New York Academy of Art. I believe that is where Steven Assael teaches.

Mr. Gist, are you going to be at Watts next year? I'm seriously considering coming to study there for a while once I get the cash and I would love to take a class or two with you...

im checking The Art Students League, The Water Street Atelier, and The New York Academy of Art. the last for now has the most information out out on the web. but ill try and get some info on the rest.

lol!!! Mr. Gist... my name is Erik, Mr. Gist is my dad.

As long as there is a Watts Atelier I will probably be teaching there in one way or another, but definitely for the next couple years. I would love to see you in the classes.

Yeah strych9ine, Watts is a great place to learn, I went there for all too short a time, and it was a very cool experience. I'd definitely recommend it to anyone.

Going to Watts now...the school is just awesome. The teachers are all inspiring and they all rule, if any single one of them leaves I'll be sad :sadcheerleader:

FOr the Water STreet Atelier, it's best to contact Jacob Collins himself. He's the one who runs it. But you gotta prove to him that you're serious about the training. I don't know how exactly, but a friend of mine had to convince him by spending some time drawing a cast then showing it to him. Fortunately, he noticed that he really wanted this, so he got accepted.
