Hey all, I have a contemporary art history gallery assignment and really want to do a review on an online gallery.

If anyone knows of one it would be a huge help, and could also include the reward of fresh baked chocolate chip cookies sent via FedEX.

The ever-popular and usually controversial Art Renewal (http://www.artrenewal.org/) .

No No Guys, an actual currated gallery which has specific exhibitions.

Muffin there is a big difference between your online portfolio and a currated gallery space. This is also another reason why I think digital art is having such a hard time breaking through into an accepted art form in comparison to classic mediums.

Accessibilty is too rampant, why have a currated digital space when you can simply go to whomever.com and browse through their work in a matter of minutes. Not to mention you are dealing with a digital medium in itself to view the work which means nearly everyone will have different colors of each image etc.

www.grainbag.com (http://www.grainbag.com/) . May not be any digital work in there, though, but it is online-only.
Plexus (http://www.plexus.org/omnizone/) and MOCA (http://www.moca.org/museum/digital_gallery.php?) are the closest I can get, but still not quite. It's never struck me before, but there is indeed a complete lack of curated art galleries out there. Good luck with the assignment.

Some Brick&Mortar museum needs to take advantage of these flatpanel monitors - and use them to display digital works :) - can you imagine going into a museum and there's a 60" Plasma screen hanging in front of the entrance with work by a great digital artist displaying on it (changing every 30 minutes or so - to another one of their works). Would look rather interesting - but only things I've seen take advantage of it are "video 'art'" (only a few have been good in my opinion...a lot of them just strike me as going so far that they don't really have a message, and don't really show any skill with the camera).

Well maybe CA.org could be the first to actually Currate an online digital gallery.

A simple websearch for "curated online gallery" pulls up quite a few hits.
