I just finished this digital painting, that I had started back in October 2004 and finally finished off now. Took me some 10-12 hours I'd say.
There wasn't any reference used actually, the bird is my "creation" as well...

You did a good job making the different materials (metal, stone etc) look believable.
But that black space of the doorway could use some more work.
Hints how that suit is going on would be nice; unless its supposed to be a floating upper torso. It just fades away to apruptly imo.
It looks like bright daylight outside, while the inside is pitch black.
So either youd have to make the outside much darker, or add some light that reflects from surfaces inside the building and even lighter from the lower parts of the battlesuit/mech of course.

Wow looks almost 3D. I think the robot guy is very vivid, but in some parts it looks more painty and blurred. This kinda throws my eyes for a loop. :D

Yes, I know exactly what you mean. I was thinking about a solution to that myself. But somehow I didn't want to mess up the dark area and put in too much there, although you would normally see more of that robot of course. Anyway, I guess this was just a stylish element added to the pic and maybe my lazyness preventing me from fixing that... :-P

wow that looks awesome, pretty freaky looking into a trench bunker thing and seeing a robot emerge from the dark..
but some textures are blurrier then others so it looks weird in some places :perv:
