The idea, of course, is not original. I "borrowed" it from a fighting videogame.

The result is satisfying for me. It was done with staedtler graphite pencils, them given a smooth finish with Adobe Photodeluxe.

Nice work, looks pretty solid wes.
Her legs might be a hair short. I can't really tell cause I have to keep scrolling up and down. They just probably look short cause I'm used to seeing these types of characters with such long legs. Me like.

I believe you're thinking of Dead or Alive. Good game.

The work here is nice to look at. The big beef I have is with how your lights and darks shift through the piece. Her shirt is the darkest thing there but no where else. Also... her shin guards seem to be a bit off on terms of persective as well as how they would bend. You shaded them as if they're metallic in nature... and if thats the case how would she bend her ankle?

She's pretty hot :D Me likey

her face is a bit flat, her shoulders are too broad, and the breast on the left is slightly too big or the other one could be too small :nohope:
try flipping the image horizontally to see what i mean.
keep up the good work man.

Her legs are a wee bit stumpy. Nice work on the face.

How exactly is she holding the weapon. If I take a stick and try to hold it in the position she has it it either falls to the ground or it moves position. Is something supposed to be holding it on her back. That was the first thing that drew my attention.

Hi!

Thank you all for your replies! Very flattering that you liked it. :bashful:

Bryceart: Thankyou very much! About the legs, the thing is many times women in art wear heels, even if otherwise completely naked. So when we see a girl not wearing high heels, their legs kinda look short.
In fact, the first rough of this drawing had her legs shorter and her waist wider! I decided it was aesthetically better to make her a bit more slender.

SquaredS: Yes, thats the game (good source for non-nude reference of "well-proportioned" girls :rendered: )!
Maybe you're right about the shading. The idea has to do with the pose, in which she is a little bent forward, and therefore, her generous proportions cause that dark spot bellow her breasts. Perhaps it wasn´t so well implemented.
About the shin guards: They were pretty tricky! I think they are metal or strong plastic. The thing is that they're molded in such a way that she can move her ankles freely. These shin guards were also a struggle for me in terms of perspective. I couldn't find enough reference for that part of her costume.

Evil_Sloth: Thanks for the advice. I like the face, since it was a close adaptation of the japanese-influenced graphics of the game it comes from, into the more realistic style which I like more.
Her breasts are not completely symetric? Oh well. I read somewhere that they never are in real women. But art should idealize, right? or shouldn't it? I don't know. Still, I wouldn't complain about such nice proportions on a girl. :)

Interceptor: I couldn't agree more with you!

Hylandr2: Her weapon is attached to the back of her dress. That's how it is on the original I based my work on. Check out "Dead or Alive".

Thank you all for replying to this piece. I'm really happy you did! Check my sketchbook to see the step-by-step. Perhaps you can help me pinpoint any mistakes in the process and leave me a note there.

Have a nice weekend!
