View Full Version : Wacom Tablet Installation Problem

I installed my wacom tablet using the drivers on the cd and had it up and running fine. I disconnected it to you a different mouse and got a windows error when I rebooted (one of those send report, don't send report winxp erros about tablet.exe). I figured that there was a reg entry in my /Run so I trashed all the files and cleaned out the registry.

When I went to reinstall the tablet and reinstall the drivers I got my computer to recognize the tablet as a usb device and allow me to use it, but the wacom tablet.exe won't recognize the tablet. Now when I try and run tablet.exe I get a "Tablet driver not found!!" error and can't access the config menu to adjust my settings.

Has anyone had this problem?

I've tried every driver set from 4.6 -> 4.75 and no luck.

Hi Tadao,

I read on other newsgroups that deleting the 'Wacom.dat' file and then restarting can cure certain tablet problems on the PC. I believe the .dat file is then rebuilt automatically and the default Wacom settings are restored. It's a long shot, but it's all I know. Please let us know if this works, or you find another solution.

I think what you recommended would have worked.

I ended up deleted everything manually from my system that related to "tablet" or "wacom" including the drivers, .cpl files, reg keys, etc and reinstalling from scratch.

After many reboots, many "tablet drivers already installed, please uninstall them first," and many keyboard poundings: It works now.

I'll keep in mind the wacom.dat file next time. :D

Cheers.
