Hello, world :) .
My name is Eliseu Gouveia and I´m a 32 years old ilustrator and comics artist.
When I´m not staring at my blank walls for inspiration, you can usually find me doing things like this.

it has a very strong sense of old illustration style.. like pinups, the 50's but with a twist of fantasy. I'm totaly suprised by this work ; it's like a blast from the past but .. oh I don't know.. just talking trough my hat and being moved :)

Thanks, guys! :)
d!o , I´m glad you noticed the colored window panels, I think they´re one of the main factors that conveys the whole fantasy elelment I was going for in this pic. :)
egerie, now that you mention, it really seems to have that old illustration feel. I guess my imaginary is still to attached to the Frazetta ilustrations I saw in my youth... :)
wilson jr , thanks; I´m actually a portuguese artist. :)

Thanks, Fell and Wilson JR. :) .
Yes, Brazilian and Portuguese is pretty much like US english and UK english, at the core they´re virtually the same language, give or take a couple thousand words and sintaxe changes. :)
I usually refrain from posting in portuguese because it may alienate the non-portuguese speaking people out there (all the three of them ;) ), but, hey, anything you can say, eu consigo perceber. :)
Unless you´re from the Sertão, of course......:D :D

How popular are comics in Portugal?

Well, let´s put it this way; when I introduce myself to people, I call myself Children and Schoolbooks Illustrator.
My memory blocked out the last time I had the nerve to call myself a comicbook artist in public, but I´m pretty sure there was at least one attempt of hanging, chinese torture and a threat of excomunication involved. :)

Portugal is pretty much dead when comes to art movements not directly connected to fine arts. Even fine arts are dead, for the simple fact that, artists are a bunch of useless hippies ( that's the idea of the popular collective), and the few ones that don’t agree with that, doesn’t have the knowledge or idea of what’s happening outside, believing that drawing is a way to take photos with pencils and photorealism is the ultimate skill achievement. If wasn’t the online communities, I would be one of then. That’s way I say this, it’s good to see a Portuguese artist AWAY of those primal ideologies, like Eliseu here.

Very good. The contrast of the warm red in the girl's hair and the overall coolness of the colors elswhere has a nice effect. It's vaguely reminiscent of the artwork done for fantasy novels, but nothing so trashy. :chug:
