quick ogre portrait.

Cool pic man, love the expression, and has a nice overall sketchyness I like in stuff aswell.

Only thing I think could be improved on is it seems quite flat right now, (thick outlines may also be adding to that). Some more overall lighting would probably help the solidness.

I did a quick 5min paint over to show you more along the lines of what I mean, tried not to over do the heavy lighting as not sure if you wanted it more subtle or not? Anyway, hope it's helpful!

cos: Hey! thanks for taking the time to do a repaint man!
i love it! it's such an eye opener to see how another artist would handle the stuff ive worked with.
although i purposely tried not to take this partictular piece very far, seeing the way you handled it really took me in a new direction. i actually restricted myself to 3 tones on this piece for stylistic purposes. the pencil is the darks, the background color is the mids and i used one tone for all the highlights. but your right, it is a bit flat, i still could have pulled off a more 3d effect in that same value range.
i do have a problem with outlining everything. its a crutch of mine.

Coolono, but i can se the outline of the head, so it looks like a mask...just soften the outline at the chin and cheeks a little...

Very nice! I like his knarled up chin and the fact you can still the the pencil shading, leaves a very cool effect.
