I am here to make an official request for one or two concept artists who would like to draw concept art for the UT2K4 mod, MegamanUT, which Project Nexus is developing. The Mod Team will be releasing content packs for the game, and then the actual mod itself (side-scrolling, just like the megaman genre). For more information on the game itself, click here (http://projectnexus.ath.cx/) to go to the team's site. The mod is non-profit, therefore no one gets paid (unfortunately).

I'll introduce myself. My name is Randall Bezant, lead character modeler for the project. I'm in charge of modeling all the good guys and all the bad guys in virtually every game that came out (that the mod will be supporting, anyways). I'm also in charge of uvmapping and texturing my works, and will eventually be animating for the team once I learn UT2K4's animation system. Our team consists of:

1 Project Head and Developer
1 Sr Project Lead
2 Mappers
2 Modelers

Now then, on with the good stuff. The tasks that the Concept Artists will be assigned to consists mostly of translating the in-game Sprites/Characters into full-size concept art and modelsheets. For instance, if there was a "Mon King" enemy in one game that needs to be translated into 3D, it will be the job of the concept artist(s) to create a few poses of what the Mon King might look like in cartoon/anime form (near-anime, since that is the style that the megaman games use). After the Mon King is drawn and approved, the final task of the concept artist would be to create modelsheets of the character (front, side, and back profiles), so that the 3D artists can translate it into 3D-form. If there is already official game art available portraying some of the characters, then you'll be in charge of creating the modelsheets based off of the game art.

If the concept artist wishes to contribute further, then he/she will also be allowed to work as a texture artist, to help texture the characters and environments. This is not mandatory for a concept artist, and if you prefer to texture rather than create concepts, we'll accept you as well.

Even though we sound like we'll take anyone, it is preferable if you have some experience with drawing, and even more so if you can draw and paint very well ;) Also, in my opinion, this project will be an enjoyable experience. We communicate and chat often in an IRC chat room together (Server: mematrix.ath.cx Channel: #nexus), and that would also be a great place to introduce yourself if you're interested (otherwise use email or the forum there).

Even if you expect to leave the team soon after you join, if you contribute a little, it's more than not contributing at all. More than likely, you'll be working with me a lot with the character concepts (since I'll be the main one using the modelsheets when they're completed), so I'm sure we'll get off to a great start ;)

We officially began the project not long ago, so it's still relatively fresh. I joined only a week ago, but I do have some works to show, if it'll help interest you further.

Any concept artists who join in can also feel free to help out with other areas than character portrayal, such as environments, action scenes, logos, etc.

Thanks for reading! If you're interested, I look forward to meeting you!

*bump* Made major changes to this topic, which warranted a new one (but instead I just bumped this one :P)
