39 portraits

this is a piece i did about 6 months ago. its an oil on board, about a 24x40. it took about 2 weeks to paint, as each portrait took about 1 hour.these are ld roommates, co-workers, friends, anyone i came intoo contact with during that 2 week period who would let me take a mugshot of them...

i used the same 3 brushes for each portrait,and really tried to render the likeness of each person in as direct a manner as possible.

that is so awesome, well worth the couplah minutes it took to load. i wish i had the patience to to take something like that on. you continue to surprise me with the variety in your work el coro :D

This just leaves me in awe. You're so awesome. I can't even begin to wrap my head around the talent in this piece. Each portrait is a masterpiece in itself. 39 of them? Godly.

If i had a meter that showed how impressed i am by your work, it wold be broken. You really inspire me - this how place does. I noticed the face at the bottom are a lot darker and a bit smaller, but mostley just darker. Any reason?

wow! total blast from the past! thanks for bumping me. joshuathejames, you been diggin. to answer some questions...

NewAgeSamurai: thanks. i painted this with three brushes, a round for details, a sable for blending, and a coarse bristle brush for highlights. i didnt underdraw on this one, just pure paint. i really need to put together a step by step in oils, i always get all caught up in it and forget to document the process...soon. i promise.

DragonGX: thanks dude. i am largely self taught. i took a couple classes in school, but i didnt get that much out of it. its all observation and experimentation. look at as many painters as you can, practice handling the paint, and you'll soon be able to pick apart a painters process and technique. look look look!!!
