i played it, it is a good game, lots of great cutscenes and new stealth techniques, but the whole forest survival thing can be a pain in the ass.

I suck balls at Metal Gear ... but as always it's freakin' genious.
setting it back in the 1960's they're able to go full swing on the saturday-morning style character personalities and have a lot of fun with the music ... the whole 60's style thing is really awesome in it, and they use it to the fullest (the intro is sexay!)
I'm like a good 5 hours in ... but only a little past the main intro (yea, I'm that bad at it)
the controls are retooled, and they work much nicer ... I've always loved the clunky MGS controls, they really punish you untill you get used to 'em so you take your time at first.
but pick it up, a lot of people missed out on it.

If you like your games to have thorough design in it's gameplay structure, innovative gameplay dynamics involving stealth and survival, a solid art direction (no pun intended), and an interesting story, then you should love this game. It was the best game i have played in a long time. A different direction for the series, but all the conventions you love about the old are still there. Nothing is sacrificed from the older MGS game mechanics, they just added a good few levels of complexity.
If you like the direction that "Call of Duty" is taking the shooting genre, where they are taking steps then you will like things they have done in MGS3 very dynamic and cinematic sequences. As always, it has some of the best boss fights ever designed. One in particular is probably my favorite boss fight ever in a game.
If you are a fan of more simpler game structre, shoot whats moving, go to point B, then this game may be a little complicated.
I can't recommend it enough. Its all I did from the moment I bought it until I beat it (2 days :^^: )

Thank god man. I was worried it might be another case of "Eh, I decided to get (insert generic bandwagon game) instead"
The cutscenes I don't remember being that bad in length. But on the flip side, these are the best cutscenes in the whole series, maybe all of gaming. The implemented a lot of that dynamic cinematography that they worked so hard for in the Twin Snakes release. So the Cutscenes are approaching hollywood quality, and by quality I mean content, not ohh look pretty-ness. But they have that too!:) They manage to capture the subtleties of character interaction that really make the characters believable. Most games out there have that overly animated feel, and sucks the realism right out of it.
You should really keep us posted on how the game is coming. It was one of my favorites this year, and its definetly top 5 ever. and I am always interested as to what sticks out in it for other people. Theres tons of those great moments in this game that make you go "I can't believe they thought of that!"

The only poor part of the cut scenes is the lip syncing. Its pretty obvious that theyre supposed to be talking japanese.
The great thing about the European version is that we get tons of extras! :teeth:
Extreme Difficulty levels
Snake v Monkey mode
The list keeps on going.....
