My name is Humza, this is my first time on the concept art forum. I am a Industrial design/illustration major at the college for creative studies in detroit and i decided to post this study of a michelangelo study i did in my anatomy class last semester. Any critiques you could offer would be extremely appreciated. I am tryin 2 get as good as i can so don't be afraid to be honest. thanx

arrrrrrrr
...... ok why hasnt anyone said anything about this yet? It's not bad. The rendering could be done a little better. It gets a little harsh but thats probably from the contrast filter in photoshop. anyway good job fool

Well done, but i think you're not seeing some values. So the transition from the black to the skin tone is to obvious and the edges are not reading well.
Try very more pacient with your first steps, i mean, the lay-in and searching of the forms and perspective of the head
Anyways, it's great study.
Keep it up

diego.... could you be a little more specific in your critique.... you mentioned the perspective of the head... do you see something wrong? Also if you could go into a bit more detail in any value problems you saw.

As far as i remember in the sibil of Delf the head is a bit more bended. Or maybe the perspective of the features you did is what i'm seeing is wrong. Try looking at the original a bit more to absorb the details and correct perspective of the mouth, eyes and nose which i thing is bigger.
Try put your drawing aside the original and search the flaws.

welcome! I am also new to concept art... I have also gone to CCS and studied illustration, until my money ran out ( i'm canadian, sue me). I must say, I do agree with diego on this one. There are certain muscular elements, such as those in the arm that are a little off. overall nice job. Check out this michealangelo piece I did for a client, while I was at CCS. I just did what he told me to do and added my own elements. The piece was about corporate corruption ( he works for the new york stock exchange or some shit) Nice to see a fellow ccs'er, hopefully we'll see more work soon. Keep up the good work.
