!!!!SKIP ALL THIS EDUCATIONAL CRAP AND SCROLL DOWN IF YOU WANT TRAILER LINKS AND GOODIES!!!

"The New world " is directed by Terrence Malick a Waco Texas native sometimes credited as, David Whitney, Terry Malick.
Worked with, Steven Soderbergh "Naqoyaqatsi", an award winning Cast in " A Thin Red Line" and cinamatographer John Toll
(Vanilla Sky, Braveheart)

Malicks most recent film went uncredited, " Bears Kiss" (2002) If anyone has any details on this please post it!

"A Thin Red Line" becomes his most recent
if you have not seen this film you can
check out the trailer at this site:

I recommend taking a look... very beautifull film visually stunning...
warning... tho this film is of epic length over 2 1/2 hours and is a
heart string puller... based on James Jones autobiographical novel
about overseas combat but my god if it won't inspire you to
paint some dramatic lighting and epic enviornments.

Days of Heaven as well...about a makeshift family and
the depression/industrial revolution era trying to survive
without destroying each other, the meager world they
have made outfor themsleves and a love fiasco
with the rich boss :)

OKAY so now we got some common ground to stand on... would love to get a discussion going on about "The Brave New World"
here is link to trailer
http://www.apple.com/trailers/newline/the_new_world/large.html

For starters when i first saw this trailer in the thearters my buttons were definitly postively pushed. The costuming looks pretty spot on, but it's just a trailer the costumer Jacqueline West has an interesting ...background she worked on both "Quills" and League of Extordinary Gentlemen"... ohh Sean Connery. As for John Smith the role will be played by Colin Farrell a.k.a Alexander ...hmmmmm
Cinematographer Emmanuel Lubezki: Lemony Snicket's, Assassination of Richard Nixon, Meet Joe Black, could make this film a knock out visually.

BUT will Malick recycle that slow beauty of Thin Red Line? Making Brave New World a tastey piece of native american and colonial pie but no breath of it's own? Will the drama of plague and colonization not hit the mark and put us to sleep? Will Malcik stray from history to give us some extreme romance drama as the trailer alludes to?

Quite frankly tho I really want what Malick will give most likley, regardless of dialog and pacing...Sexy native americans... garments and all with tribal interaction. Please pass me a side of history with a widescreen format.

alright :rendered: thank you for reading this through lets get some convo up in the air...

This looks great, even if just to see such a more realistic take on John Smith / Pcahontis (spelling??) -- At least that's what you showed from the trailor, the native american girl in the weeds.

That director likes his water/natives/children choir scenes so you know I'm happy -- They were so great in Thin Red Line, 'kept you in your seat and rooted to the culture.
I've never seen the entire movie, so I don't know how long that lasts .. but it was awesome what I saw.

Humm...seems interesting. The poster, though. It looks like an ad for a Disney movie. To bright and cheery, and that font. Bleh. :dead: Needs to be darker, I think. Anyways, certainly very interesting.

mike - yea i am so pumped for this movie...so very very excited

nero- the font is pretty gold..but then again the settlers were interested in finding some of that spakly stuff here...perhaps a consideration for such a bright gold text?....or reading into this way to much :}

i really liked the "photo texture", as for it looking like a disney poster...suppose it's the hues. We are looking at this on a monitor, it could be a little off since it's RGB not CMYK.

Thank god they didn't put Christian Bale, Colin Farrell all over the poster...

Yeah, the color's a little much, but the font itself looks way too....goofy. I guess.:teeth: Just looks like something you'd see on an add for a Disney ride or something.

New world has more updates!!

In there features section there is now:

- A behind the scenes preview
- Interview with jack Fisk (written)
- Writer Michael Singer he's aloof about his actual role in the madness :)
- Summer reading list...which is meant for teens, but could still hold some interesting digs
- A sketch book which is interesting but nothing to write home about...

agreed, plus, he aint all that hard on the eyes either, heh. ;)
is it too much to hope that this won't be a Hollywood-ified movie?
