made some progress..

Small step for mankind, not so small step for kilgard.

First time I'm painting without reference, but I can't handle colours very well yet, so this is grayscale .. then I made it green. Obviously. :D

This is anice sketch kilgard...just needs some highlights for the contrast...and there are some anatomy issues on the body....eyes are unbalanced for example...and th shoulders are not same too....but it's going well i think...you shold think of adding it some nice colors...like warm colors...

You're right, I didn't notice the eyes, but I knew something was wrong with the face. The mouth isn't in the right place either. About the shoulders - the idea is that the upperbody is turned to the side, but I didn't plan that when I made the first lines .. it's just a rather hasty solution. It's not an excuse, and it doesn't even make it look better, the shoulder is far off :D

I'll use my brain a little more from now on.

Is it considered cheating to apply colours like this on a grayscale image? It doesn't feel very honest, since you can't do that if you're not working digitally, right?

Anyway, I didn't fix all the anatomy issues. Was experimenting with colours.. it ended up a bit messy. About 30 minutes for adding colours.

Am I on the right track?

Well, It's looking better now but there are so many colors now:) There is blue on the right, brown on the left...these colors are not so close to each other...the brown side can be darker blue i think...and forget that red dots...they don't fit there...otherwise it looks good....take more time for the colors and it will be great:)
