One of the perks to being personal friends with Jason Manely is haveing him help you establish your color palet while talking to him over the phone, Lots of thanks go out to jason for his color advice and direction on my pallet and technique. he was very inspirational on this piece. I hope it shows. I really learned alot from this one.
I could tell you what time I finished or how long it took. but if you look at the background, the top portion is what the sky looked like when I started and the bottom portion is what the sky looked like once I finished, that should give a better estimate.

Thanks Jason

the first thing i thought when seeing this was: "COLORS!"
it really shows that this is a differently influenced approach, just make sure you transfer the knowledge to the range of color you normally work in.
this one looks so painterly, it's amazing, but so do the colors. digitally, we have colors that emit light themselves, so we should freakin use them :) you did that wonderful with a lot of your previous spods.
but all in all, yeah, the time was spent wisely :)

any hints for us bloody n00bs about what mr manley talked about and tips he gave? :)

critics: the shadow on the right side of the nose (OUR right side) looks a bit out of place where it fades into the rest of the face...
all other places look so well and rich colored when color fades: grens, reds, blues, everything's there... just in this one place, it's WHAM, one color ends, welcome to the next.

I am sorry, if this question was asked before...

Andrew, which is the original size of the images you post? When starting a piece, is it in print quality or just the resolution of the posted ones?
