Yo all art gods.
After being frustrated over the medium a long time i think im on the right track with photoshop now. This image was done solely in practice purpose and took about 14 hours. It didnt quite turn out the way I wanted but I felt i had more control this time over this darn program...;).. My goal was to do everything with a round solidbrush.
One question. What image resolution do you guys work in considering if you want to print it afterwards? DPI and such?.
Behold the .... ugly.... one.

well to be perfectly honest, when i first saw the image i thought it was still being worked on and i said to myself, that image is going to look damn cool when it's finished as it's shaping up wonderfully, i think you have a nice piece here but it could be even more so if you pushed it a little more.

This pic is going extremely well i think...the dark area behind the man looks cool and gives a rel deepness to the image...
the moon like planet is good as well...but i don't know.it seems like a planet...
keep it up...we want to see the finished image as quick as possible!:p

Wilkinson - I personally think its to washed out. I think i need to work a little more with the lighting wich in this case comes from the upper right corner. Perhaps a more dark shadows and a redish backlight..
Atmospheria - hehe its a round thingy moony planety thing...;) And the deep dark behind the character was really planned in the way you described it...;).. weee someone understood....;)
Ill try to update it but puha. I think Ill do another image between here... im really sick of it by now AND i know what to change but I need to get that energy swirling to get it done..
thx for your comments

Im gonna do this one and then update the previous knight/lizard image. Im doing this beetwen beacuse I think i did something worng in the earlier picture since im still larning this coloring stuff as well as to paint with photoshop.
The pictures tend to turn out to flat and with this latest picture ill try to add more kontrast to the shadows to add more depth.
Heres the progres after about 1 hour on the new picture.

This is truly a nice picture, love the composition and design.
However I agree with some of the other guys, it looks a bit
undone. It lacks colour variation. Really nice anyway.

I agree withevery one else it looks undone, especially the creature put some values on the creatures face, under the lips of the creature should be darker less light reaches into the mouth, also turn the form on the hornsand teeth, maybe some darks under the eyes, ears. keep at it your doing a good job.

Yo Palm - Yup perhaps a little to flat. However, I am really trying to keep it to the easiest variations possible. BUT as you said it could need some more variations. Ill try to work on it but i really suck at this so if not in this image then later on in the upcoming images..
2kre8 - Well, actually his head is flat sideways. So you dont actually se into the mouth. HOWEVER the tougne should be darker further in. POint taken.
Turn the horns and teeth? You got me on that one..
The ears are behind the big skinny elefant things on his head....;)
And Palm you hardrocker go make some Mindark art and come back later.....;) When are you going to post something btw... You rock on this so you should....;)

Another hour on the second image. I have alot to clean up and detail but I think I have learned alot today anyways... Ill do some more "learning" tomorrow...;)
I reworked the pose a little to fit the composition. Some major anatomy issues but im only after the coloring bit and not the Gyorgy Feher anatomy.

Update... After 5 hours its starting to look like something i think. I thiunk the changes to the background created more dynamics building a triangle with the mans right arm.
The lizard is almost finished, the ground needs some lucky strokes ..and the hero needs lots of cleaning up...

Finally moving towards final result. I have added alot of contrast and taken away some details. I dont like the way I do details yet in photshop, they tend to stick out to mych. AND i dont like doing to small of detail because it tends to flatten the focus. However im still learning this so ill regard this for this painting and think about and plan thoose things on the next one.
I know that the lizard is twisted in a wierd way, but i really like the movement so i compromise to have it funky instead of correcting it.
