Explosion effect

I'm trying to work on my explosion effects. I drew this yesterday, tell me what you think.

Sparth and others may know what ship that is (and where it's from).

Just a few comments. The explosion is getting there, but depending on what you have hitting the ship the effect would be affected. Right now you kind of have an "inbetween effect" A piercing round would go through the ship with very little effect on the impact side, but the exit side would be torn to shreds and have most of the explosion. An explosive round would explode on impact, tearing the impact side apart and then tearing through the ship, not piercing it. Most of the explosion would be on the impact side then. Right now yours is kinda of between the two. Thats all. Have a nice night.

I see what you're saying. But one could argue that the explosions came from within the ship, not due to the actual impact but internal explosions. That's actually what I was thinking as I drew. And I was also thinking that the weapon inflicting damage was some sort of energy beam (laser). Without the explosions, I'd say that the beam would melt though and sort of cut the metal as it went.

Alright, I didnt think about the energy beam........ Well if thats the case and it was exploding from the inside, it would push everything around it outwards..... it would ripple and tear apart, burst outwards like an over inflated balloon. If its cutting the ship then exploding, seperate the cut halves to show us that its cut, then apply the internal explosion factors. :) I'm out to join the dsg. have a nice night
