here's a new one. after analyzing my given description for this piece, I again chose to use a set-up heavily influenced by N.C. Wyeth.

I like this piece, and the attention to detail you have put into this piece, with the lattice work in the windows and the quill pen, with the texture and shape. With the proliferation of d20 companies, and the resulting art, it is great to see such detail and skill exercised in a piece.

I would like to see more definition of his legs and the table bottom, even though they are in the shadows..

Other than that I really like this! I like all of your pencil drawn works, they are always good to see!

First off, man I love your pieces! all your figures and faces have a lot of character and personality to them. Your level of detail is great, such as the ornamentation in the table top and leg, and the iron work in the window. I loved your Elven throne piece too. great work.

Ok, now what I'd like to see is more deliberate use of your lights and darks to guide our eyes around the page. Use of thick/thin line work and light/dark areas could help emphasize the narrative of the piece.

Right now some of the lattice work on the window and the mans shoulder kind of pop out due to the darker lines they have, where as I think the true wieght of the peice should be between the mans face/writing and the city burning.

I hope you dont think Im being too persnikitty. I love your work and enjoy seeing it in the FFG books!

Keep up the good work!

Again I like it Mitch, very moody, figure and lighitng is great.

Only crit is the construction of the windows and castle wall seem a little bent/wobbly which makes it seem abit puttyish, neatening it up some might help the solidness.

Cool stuff.

Hey Mitch...this one looks really good man. I like the concept and I think it makes the piece more interesting by leaving the underside of the table less defined...that's really cool in my opinion. The contrast is pushed a lot more on this piece too...looks great.

Here are a couple crits. Some may be right some may be wrong: I think his hands may be a bit too large for his body (particularly his right hand's pointer finger). I think you can get away with it and honestly it's fine the way it is but just something you might want to rethink perhaps. I agree with cos about the puttyish nature of the structure. Also the buildings outside seem like they are lacking enough detail. They don't have to be super detailed or anything but they aren't reading right (to me at least)...especially the one in the left window. The position of the table also seems odd to me...the base of the wall is a good distance above the top of the table yet we only see a small portion of the table. I think at this particular "camera angle" we should see a little more of the table I could be wrong about that though. Also the shadow extending from the left side of the table has me a little confused. I'm not quite sure of how to read that shadow. The window on the right in the back too...the right side of the inside of it is showing a lot. I would figure since it's at pretty much the same angle on as the one on the left that the right side of the window would show just about as much as on the window on the left (don't know if that makes sense).

Awesome work man...this creates such a story...it's great.

I am rookie...take my stuff with a grain of salt (I'm sure you will hehe)

amazing piece. I would add more dramatic lighting under the table and such, the completely shadowed leg stands out too much to me.

Thanks guys.
I know I should have spent more time with the stuff in the shadows.

with the windows and stone work I was in a situation here because I wanted light from the burning buildings outside. maybe if I just gave it more texture.
I don't think any of you are being too picky. that's why we post here. I appreciate all of it.

thanks
Mitch
