Jull's and Matt Dixon's images got both 39 votes...so we have to make another vote between this 2...

TOPIC:
Mascot for COW (Creature-Of-The-Week) Activity

VOTE!

--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Jull:

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Matt Dixon:
concept: Here she is - the CA.org Critique Cow.
Armed with the 'Crit Cleaver' in one hand ( +2 versus fragile artist's egos with an instant death effect against photo paintovers ) and the 'Totem of Shutyeryapandpractise' in the other, she wanders the boards in search of artwork to battle. Those who succumb must suck on the teats of wisdom. Mmm...creamy! She's a bad-tempered bitch at the best of times...

The Poll will be closed Monday evening, because most members are visiting the forum over the weekend!

I voted Jull - it serves better as a mascot.

Perhaps they can share. Jull one week, Matt the next

I voted for Matt. Jull's is great and really works well, but i just went with a gut feeling on this. The Cow has such character, and a fantastic expression on his face. I think it is a phenomenal rendering. The only thing I think is that (to make it more "mascotty") we will probably want to use a version of just the character without the background.

Hey, can I be the first to suggest that we name him "Scotty" as in the word "mascotty" that I just used up there?

I have to agree with Arteric.

The expression that the cow has along with the small details on her add alot to the character. If she is picked, I think with just having the face would be great as a mascot.

I'm sticking to my original vote. As technically impressive as Matt Dixon's is I still have a soft spot for simplicity. Go Jull!!!

people, just look how humble and what great members and artists this two guys are....i just got one pm from each:

Matt Dixon's pm:
"Heh. I see you've already started a new poll, but Jull's is a better mascot than mine. If it makes things easier, I'll take mine out of the running and we'll just use Jull's?"

Jull's pm:
"I think Matt will win this time, but if we end in draw again, just let me break the draw and let Matt win"

It makes me cry to see these things on this forum...it's so gentle and sweet...   :groupie1: :yayca:

can we have *both* mascots? You know, good cop/bad cop? :S

Fozzybar

hehe, nice idea...if anyone knows a way how to realize this later...

Well, if someone does a happy feel good piece, or it just rocks, they get: Jull's

If someone does something that is cool, but needs work, they get: Matt's Mad Cow - it's kind of like getting a weiner award for something that *should* have been cool, but got flubbed because someone didn't go all the way, cut corners or just screwed up.

Or, we could turn it around the other way, too.

oh no...i don't want to declare one for the "good" entries and one for the "bad" entries...this would be unfair, since both images are great, but i know what you mean...

The mascot won't be used in this way anyway...i don't need another full-time-job :)

Use for the mascot mainly is as a kind of banner on the top post of every C.O.W.-related thread (like the one currently, which is only a placeholder)...there is another idea at the moment what we'll do with the mascot, but this you will see when we know which one it is actually...

Okay, so much for *that* grand idea :er:

How about just rotating them - alternate every other week? Keep it simple.

Bottom line; both are excellent, light-hearted, fun and beautifully executed, so just use them both and don't stress it? :confident

gotta run.
Cheers,
~Shane

Is Matt's Cow a "she"? What, I take my vote back!!!! I retract! A "she"!!! Well, I never....

OK, all kidding aside, maybe I could change the name to "Mascotti"... with an "I", cause I have heard some girls are named scotti but spell it with an "I"... but now that I see it, I think the word looks like some pasta dish.

Should we choose a name for the character? Just wondering about input on this.

Between Jull and Matt, Mr. Dixon's nasty old cow got my vote. I think the desciption won me over as much as the impressive artwork itself. It has spunk and reminds me of my revolting history teacher in HS, one dissaproving look from her, and you'll probably be needing a new pair of pants.

Wooo!! It took me long time to decide!! I think mascot should be qute
luckbringers that gives at least me good vibes and not deathbringers, but an
instant death effect against photo paintovers, man that made it impossible to
decide using that criteria.
Anyway in the end I think Julls serves the mascot purpose better some of my
reasons are:

* I think it will be easier to fit in different "places"
* It's not a cow
* the great placement of "CA.org" which Matt has not

I have to say Jull's works better as a logo-style piece. But I love Matt's piece so much. I think it's witty and strong. I think that if it was just the character without the background it would work perfect. I am voting for Matt's...

This poll is closed...it is 35:35 currently...if we continued the poll maybe one would have win with 1 vote more...1 hour more and the other entry would have get 1 vote more...

So i decided to make them both winners as you can see in the winner-gallery now...

That means - since the topic was mascot - we have 2 mascots...

Matt's C.O.W. will be used as the "banner" or "title" in every C.O.W.-related thread...

http://www.conceptart.org/forums/images/cow/cowpoll.jpg

Jull's C.O.W. will be used as an icon for every C.O.W.-thread so people can recognize the content of the thread PLUS jull's C.O.W. will be used as a special icon for the winners of each cow-round...we'll put it next to the winners nick name, so he will be recognized as a winner of a cow-round...for every winning-piece he will get a star added to his icon...so former champions shouldn't lose interest in participating for coming rounds...there's always a star to win :)

http://www.conceptart.org/forums/images/cow/cow_won_1.gif

I hope this does justice to both entries....we couldn't let one lose could we? ;)

Yay!!

great Job all three of you! (Jull, Matt & Frazzled Bear, er..., I mean Fozzy!)

So, the Jull Llama can only be used by winners? I saw it in the message icons this morning before I saw this thread and used on another thread.... is that okay? I mean, Matts Mad Cow isn't going to come and get me or anything, right? :dur:

Right?

Guys? Hello?

The Jull-Lama (hehe, what a name) can be used by every member when opening a thread. It would be cool to limit this only for the C.O.W.-activity, but i guess it's not possible to set this up...

But the Jull-Lama is also under Matt Dixon's and Jull's title if you look at their nicks :)

Thanky you! I hope everybody feels like that!

I think that is the best way to use them... two winners is fine with me... both worked incredibly well and yet were different enough that it was hard to compare them and choose one over the other.

Congratulations to both Matt and Jull and great entries.

Hey Fozzy, is there ANY way to make the Jull C.O.W. Llama head larger when it is used or is it going to be a small size?
