I just started coloring this piece a while ago. There are going to be more colors added to the fur/feather mix on it's body, but for now I'm working with the base color. I like how it is starting to turn out. keep in mind, anything with an outline and the bg color in the middle is going to be covered over/filled in later, they are just guidelines in the painting that are to be erased later. For now I'm focusing on the fur. I posted the large image for the sheer sake of letting the [little] details show through. I am concerned for the piece, I think it might need more details and definately more value color wise. Does anyone have any helpful hints or tips?

Better make sure where she´s wearing furr and where feathers. Occasionally feathers perking out of the fur are an distraction. Mixing them should be avoided. Only in regions where the wings go over to the body maybe.
And remember that anything that´s have to fly without magic needs at least wings five times bigger than itself when unfolded.
Anyway, I like the manga ref in it.

*giggles maddly* Ok, seriously, I will most likely take out the coloring, I thought it was kind of cute. ^^ I took out the randomly placed feathers, I was messing around with a copy of the original file and I had a little too much fun with a low pressure airbrush. XD It looks like she fell into a bucket of paint. Anywho, any opinions? Keep the silly colors or take them out? Other than that, underneath, if you can see underneath the colors, is the shading ok? X.x Sorry my files are so big and crappy. Here is the picture without the funny colors on it, this is most likely how the finished body is going to look, but I still think I need some sort of texture. I don't know how to get one in there without a crummy filter. Bleh..any ideas? Oo'
