How many of you have admired another artist's style that when you sketch, you try to imitate their style? There are some very talented artist here with incredible sketchbooks..too many to name.
I just get frustrated because my work is'nt quite as good. I guess I spend too much time studying everyone else's stuff.
What do you when you see some one's art that is better then yours? Does is inpire you or does it intimidate you?

it usally inspires me, personally. if something is great enough to move me emotionally, i usally do some studys from it- but i never try to imate anyones style... (that only inhibits your own) but i can totally sympathise with you. my sugestion to you is simply this: draw more from life! ... all the rest will follow (except maybe for composition, but thats an illusive bastard)

hehe, for me it depends on the day. If I am having a bad day, all that good stuff I see just gets me more mad cause I can't come close to drawing like that. Somedays, it inspiries the shit out of me and I sit down and draw for hours.

Seeing pretty much any art depresses the hell out of me (because almost everyone is much better than me), but I just repeat my mantra with dead eyes: "I'll never give up."

I kind of know what you mean. What's worse for me is that I spend too much time admiring the incredible talent in these forums, time that I should spend drawing and refining my technique!
I agree with Nobody: Never give up, never surrender!

some times when you platu every thing is hard and its hard to keep going but ya gota punch through i think jsut keep sketching even if you feel its crapy if for nothing else to keep the nurons well oiled
yah and like your man up there said and loomis befor him .. draw from life ... you will skill up much faster that way .. if cant think of or find any thign make a cut out for a frame and jsut wander around till you get a nice subjet in it set that up and commence

Thanks guys! At least I'm not alone on this one. I will start doing more drawings from life. I need to be drawing a whole lot more too.
