I'm curious what you jazz lovers out there like. Lets share some stuff in here.

Lately I can't get enough of
ART PEPPER
and Stan Kenton

also I dig George Benson.

pepper is so good without being over the top. He knows when to reign it in, and when to go nuts.
any other fellas with the big band uptempo sound I shoud check out? Or anything good, in general?

I really like Cannonball Adderly (alto saxophonist) at the moment, these two albums in particular:

Cannonball Adderly Quintet - Them Dirty Blues
Cannonball Adderly - Takes Charge

Edit: I agree about Art Pepper. Winter Moon is my favourite album of his.

Also for good upbeat Big Band music, try Michel Camilo's album One More Once.

Sir Duke. It doesn't get much better than that.

Miles Davis mainly with a smathering of Coltrane and a few other artists.

I love Miles Davis' Bitches Brew compilation, it gives me a weird disjointed feeling when I listen to it and I think it's incredible. But Kind of Blue with So What and Freedie Freeloader, favorites.

My guitar teacher knew i'm into Mr Bungle and late Hendrix, and made me a tape with some crazy Rock / Jazz stuff...
I really liked them, the Screaming Headless Torsos and the Raging Honkies (Michael Landau) and some other stuff, i forgot the names. Well, i'd like to find some more of that kind of stuff. I'm not really into um... oldschool Jazz. I know there's Jazz that is, well experimantal, i just can't seem to find it.
Anything you'd recommend? I'd appreciate webradio Stations or free (legal) MP3s, kinda short on money right now...

Wynton Marsalis. Especially his newest album, the Magic Hour. Just an awesome cd to listen to. I even got to go to his concert when he cam to Toronto.

Plus guys Maynard Feguson, guys I am a trumpet player myself, so you gotta love those squealers. Also big into Chuck Mangione right now.
