Pharrell: Flash and Photoshop

Here's a new piece that I did this morning. I used a picture of Pharrell from Neptunes for reference... didn't really focus on making it look exactly like him. Let me know what you think of it? Thanks

did you draw it on flash???
if so...why not illustrator i think it's a lo better for vector drawing than flash...but hey that's my opinion of course.

Thanks for the comment el linxo. Glad you liked it. I drew it in my sketchbook first and then cleaned it up in Flash. Why Flash... ah, prob cause I don't have Illustrator on my comp and because I know Flash really well. I'll make sure to get Illustrator soon though.

Nicely done!

Very stylized vector work. The green and orange work nicely together and the background loose brush style is a good contrast against the sharper vector work. Perhaps you can incorporate a sliver of orange in the higlights of his face to show some reflective light, but it may not be needed. I think you can push the background brush strokes a bit more however.

I think the elongated neck is a good stylistic device, but the shadow seems a bit off around the adam's apple area. I think the shadow area near where his lips meet can be better defined also. He looks like he has big lips but the shadow flattens them a bit.

Also, should there be a cast shadow from the rim of his hat over his ear the side of his face? Not sure if it's needed though, your call.

I think the neck is a little long...but the shadow hides the it....anyway...its a cool image. As el linxo said...if you draw it on a program like illustrator or freehand it'll look more beautiful.

Tadao... thanks alot for those good pointers. I agree with everything you said. Hopefully I'll get to change it within the next few days.
Atmospheria... some people like the long neck some don't. I made it long on purpose as to give it more character. I'll hopefully get Illustrator soon.
