This is kinda unfinished, but if I apply another fucking brushstroke to this thing, it may be the end of me.

Suh-wheet-ah!

I hate to compare styles, but this has a very Mullins-esque feel to it, especially in the figures. I think it's the way you imply the figures with very little loose brushstrokes, the texturing, and, probably most importantly, the pallete. There's something about that sort of burnt sienna and pale green color that reminds me of him.

Anyways, really loving it. The texture, the atmosphere, the mood, the fun signs. Would make a great Blade Runner location.

Sterling work, sir! This kind of scene can easily get confused, but the whole thing's nicely readable with a good sense of depth. Lovely job.

What's the door policy at 'Go Rubbery'? Can I get in with these dirty old Sambas on, or am I going to have to try and buy some pissed bloke's shoes?

Nice! Really feels like night in the big city. I think you could add to it by adding some horizontals coming upo to the line of buildings- they're all very vertical, see? You could add some instant depth and business, pumping up the bustling, teeming, crowded nature of the shot. I love that bus. Eat, Fight and Fuck- that'll be the name for our Quake server today! Cheers- :)

I don't think you have to be frustrated on not "finishing" this one, although it does depend on what your goals were when painting this scene. If your goals were to establish a rich mood, or a setting in which some emotional story element could take place, or to define a sense of scale between that of your location and the figures filling up the scene:

it is successful.

I think it's a great painting, and good for those reasons. Nice work.

Haha, sorry, 'nuts d33p' is definitely my favourite.

Very noice mr spud. I'm really struggling to try and find something constructive to say, and I can't.

I just looked some more. Still nothing.

Just really nice, man. Colour works in every measure, it's not overworked anywhere, it's great!

Ok, if I would love to see one thing it would be that the people down the bottom be even looser, kinda adding to the apparent movement and liveliness. Though in reality I'm just asking you to *be* Craig Mullins, which nobody but he should be.

I really like the theme.. :D not because im actually a young porn addict. but because of its loose futuristic style. the saturated bright colors blend very well with the night atmosphere. love it. only cheesy thing about it is the moon on top tho. just because i got used to seeying that sort of thing in the 3rd grade, just to create a light source (maybe put it a little more down by the buildings). said pretty harsly, sorry, but i hope you know what i mean. also the legs of the girl seem to be going way too downward.. sort of getting smaller as it goes along. it doesnt change the fact that this is definatly a great piece of artwork. good job!

ohhh my, veeery nice

only crit I could think bout is more reflected light out of Go Rubbery ON to STAXX, cause right now it feels like it seperates the whole illustration into 2 different ones..
ah well, 2 cents

very well done nonetheless

Cheers for the replies fellas.

this is one of those pieces where I can't see the wood for the trees anymore, so any crits are most welcome.

fukifino & dirty_c: of all the big shots out there, Mullins is definitely my favourite. I think you need yours eyes testing, but thanks for the compliment all the same.

sjoerd: thanks man, glad you liked it.

Matt Dixon: you wouldn't last five minutes in that place. I've heard that the dress code is wetsuits and gasmasks, for health and safety reasons.

se7en_: it's hell in there. Full of crack hos, pervs and Russian mafia. The food's shit too.

RAMON: cheers RAMON. I'm working on another one soon.

chuckw: yeah, I know what you mean. Perhaps some streetlights or traffic lights bristling with monitors and stuff. Good observation.

Jensen: why can't they all write stuff like that? Thanks man.

LordSpewbarfer: that moon thing actually started life as the headlights of a flying vehicle, it didn't even occur to me that it was the moon! Doh! My buddies at work say the same thing about the girl too btw.

Sam0s: I have an earlier version, where the top half is drowning out the bottom half, because it's too bright, with too much detail. I can see now that I may have desaturated the top half too much. Good observation. Thanks.

If there were maybe another half inch or so at the bottom of this canvas to push the watery street-reflection thing would be fun. I love that neon sign stuff, can't get enough of it. That logo under the StaXXX sign is gold, pure gold.

right. nice. it is mullins influenced, maybe, but the fact that people have acknowledged it witht the style means that you have capured some of the techniques the great one uses. I only no of one man who comes close to mullins and that is Xiaoye Chen. supalette.com.

goodwork. if more people take influence from the great artists instead of pumping out lets face it, non influenced crap, then the standards would move towards a much more mature result.

Good work. Btw i absolutely love the bus.

has a bit of a mead feel as well....i prefer this one to the clyne image.

eat fight and fukk. lol come on now. what kind of world is this!!?

:)

its vegas 2025 I think!

the figures are weak. ..especially the more central ones with the oranges etc...so much care going into the feel of the environ but costume and character is non-existant. thats a prob with environ guys I think...great environs...lacking figures...i know they are just place holders but if your suggestion is a bit more accurate and interesting on at least a couple of the figures no one will question your ability to knock in a decent figure block in. the overall quality of the image will improve as well.

no weak links in the chain means for a stronger chain right?
