hi all!! been so long time since my last post...
this is a kind of fanart of an local online game 'Risk your life'
which is similar to DAOC (an RVR game)
these costumes aren't seen in the game (i wish :) )
http://direwolf.giveu.net/gallery/images_2003/RYLfinal2.jpg
this work looks 'not finished' since its background detail and shading lacks (i suffered great pain when i knew i can't put enough 'global illuminating' to the work)
and... my homepage opened!!
http://www.direwolf.co.kr
there isn't any english section (all are korean local language)
so almost every words may seen broken...
visit and post some messages in 'main board' if you want..:D
keep the good work, and keep rollin' rollin'

hey this looks good!
leave the background alone or if you need to add a little more do it loosely. if you add too much detail back there it will just detract from the wonderful painting on the main figure.
there are some excellent passages of paint in this piece. his red drapery and the standard on the ground, wonderful! the only problem i see is that they may be a little too local in color. try to add warm and cool variations of a particular color to help keep it interesting. cool colors help turn planes away from the viewer, warms come closer etc. beyond that you might want to scumble a little complementary color around in a color field to add vibrancy.
i find the shape of his head to be too even, or rather too much of a perfect egg shape. it may be a little long for the perspective. take a look at yourself in the mirror and play up the characteristics that imply the shape and foreshortening of the head from that angle.
i don't want to take away from your interpretation of anatomy, just want to make sure you communicate your derivations as intended.
don't be too neat, it will kill your work.
dude, i think this is wonderful and i look forward to seeing more from you.

man this whole peice is great. I really like the level of detail. The only thing that bugs me is his face. he doesn't seem cool enough. he looks kinda weak to be honest.
But your skill in painting...man, it's good.

i agree with mr. foster, but the head is the only thiing i can see that really needs a liitle more work, but damn beatiful piece.

Hmmm....France and Korea/Asia seems like the places with the best artists for some reason.
Very nice work. I agree on the face though - it's like it doesn't fit in. He looks like a German computer nerd, not a knight(have no idea why I think he looks German, I just do...).
I also think, even accounting for the perspective, that his ears are placed a little too low. And the head is a little too.....not wide enough.
But other than that it's great work! :)

I have a problem with the face. It is too general looking. Are you using any references?

thanks for good advice, all of you
i agree with the 'honest' or 'peaceful' head...need a lot of training and ... study on anatomy and a bunch of technical stuffs....you know, i don't want to make him egghead, either.
man i have tried some 'cool' colors in background and felt fore and back too separated.. looks like almost floating.... is there any way or tip about how to mix those two? if you have any opinion, i'm ready to hear ;)
