I would love to see a tut on cross hatching/contour line. say you have a pic of an object and the drawing with the countour lines, so that those of us who can't seem to grasp the concept can get a better understanding of how to approach the technic..something like what this guy did with the (is it the pelvis bone)

That’s a good tread Franz but I can’t really make out the details of the stokes in most of them and the seem to be a bit over whelming. I am looking for something a little bit simpler. But that’s for the reply

grr..

i posted something but it got erased when i came to check today...

anyway, do a pencil drawing of a spoon on the concave side and then the convex side. copy it a few times. then take a pen and experiment with various ways to use the strokes to show the convexity and the concavity. the best way to learn is to experiment... and if that fails, look at how other people did it. studying others is far more helpful after you have tried it yourself.

if you go to
www.similarselection.org/aaron/021603/ you can see an original scan of a tibia "painting" and my pen copy of it. that can give you an idea of how i approach things which might help.

best of luck,

bone
