Hi,

I am attending art schools for next year, so i have to present some competitive examination, based on art.
There is a part on technique, and i work hard to succeed, so i'll see for this...

but there is a part, when one must show his own personnal work. My question is, how to, when you have no indication, choose a theme, and develop it? I only have two months and a half to come with a complete portfolio showing my abilities and potentialities. So subjects interesting to me, but too complex, can't be ok. too much work, research needed.
My problem is that i can't think of something simple, i'm always complicating things...
It is so important, i don't want to do some contemporary crap (which is extensively recommended, but i still want to work in art, 'cause i think art is something like what is going on on this forum.) like others do, i can't apply myself to these things.

I am not searching for any answer like "do this", but recently again, i had a lot of will, and subjects, but i'm in great doubt right now.

if anyone can help, anyway, i'd be very grateful,

cya...

Why not just do plenty of observational drawings & some more figurative work?? You're applying to art schools where they will teach you. You're not applying for a gallery show. They want to know that you undersatnd the fundamentals & basics; they're nto concerned about your own personal "voice" just yet- they'd much rather find out that you can "sing with the choir" for now. Once you get in there, I'm sure you'll be allowed to go solo, but first you have to get in.
