do any of you guys use painter for painting textures? i am finding it difficult to obtain the same look with painter that most acheive with Pshop. i'm more familiar w/painter...therefore i would like to continue w/it for texturing.
things i don't understand apply to the differences in the airbrush. the one in Pshop seems to give a smaller, tighter line than what the one in painter can do.
any advice (besides saying "learn Pshop"?

keyth,
You can use painter instead of photshop for texturing.. The only reason why most people use photoshop, is because it has tons of filters, its selection tools are great, and it is more widely known... But you can still use painter.. I happen to use Deep Paint, Photoshop, and painter..
as far as brushes are concerned.. it takes sometime trying to figure out how to make brushes that you feel comfortable with in photoshop, but I can generally get a similar airbrush it just takes sometime...
I would suggest you sit down and learn photoshop as well.. The more you know the better, right? Plus if you get a job in the industry, they are going to have it for you to use, so might as well be able to take advantage of its tools..

i paint in painter, and i skin and texture in protoslop.
i personally use it for the masking tools and layers, which are far superior to painters tools. also, if your going to be using alpha channels, like for the parts of a texture that you want to be transparent you will need to go with photoshop.
i dont know if you have any experience with overlays or not,, but thats something that can only be done in photoshop,, and that is a very valuable tool for texturing.. it has been for me.
