Anyone seen this movie yet, It's a movie produce and directed by Stephen Chow (best known for Shaolin Soccer in the states), it's a pretty good, has an impressive CG footage showing some series special effects. You'll see some parody of western movies such as spider-man and the matrix. The best scene has got to be the part where the musicians fight a dude using the spear, really incredible fighting action even if it is wire tricks and special effects. It's worth watching just for that scene.

I saw a preview for it that looked really weird and hilarious. I hope it makes it here somehow. I'd definitely check it out.

Finally they are going to release this movie in theatres in America, I've seen this movie about 5 times already and I find new things about it. Good stuff. It'll be out everywhere on April 22nd, according to sonyclassics.com. If you loved Shaolin Soccer you will really enjoy this movie, Stephen Chow is the funniest man in Asia, and hopefully in America as well.

Enter the site to see some pretty funny clips from the movie.

Its a kick ass movie....much better than his 'Shaolin Soccer'.

FYI, theres not much of a lead chick tho....Stephen's love interest only appear for like 10 mins in the whole film.

I saw it, burned a copy of it for a friend and I'm sure he'll get around to seeing it too. I had one guy I know call it kinda cheesy, but to each their own when everything's said and done. By the way, I liked it. And the lollipop girl is really cute. :bashful:

My favorite funniest scene is where Stephen Chow tries to kill the landlady by throwing a knife, things just goes wrong for him....it's hilarious.

It's crazy that one man can direct, write, and star in his own movie.

If anyone hasn't seen his other movies, check out "God of Cookery", I've heard that Jim Carrey wanted to make a remake of that movie in America.

i just got back from this movie today, and i must say, i liked it. the fight scenes were all really cool and the movie itself was pretty funny. the story could've used more work and development and the hot chick could've had more relevance to the central story. but otherwise i loved the fight scenes. who goes to a kung fu flick for anything else?

Just got back from seeing and it kicked unholy ass all over the place. I think I like Shaolin Soccer better, but just by a tiny margin, and that may change on further viewings. Even if it had been entirely serious it would've been a great kung fu movie, and the comedy only enhanced the enjoyment. It's much like The Incredibles that way.

They need to make a Stephen Chow fighting game.

It wasn't as super funny as I expected. I think my expecation was set too high, either that or b/c of the cold reaction of the rest of the audience in the theatre (there were only 3 or 4 ppl there, and none of them laughed out loud, it felt weird for me to laugh too). But I still enjoyed the movie, the gangster dance is soo cool. XD

What i really liked was the art direction, the whole visual style was miles from what you'd expect in a kung fu movie. Good to see the usual clichés avoided. The comedy and dance scenes worked great as well. If anything, i'd have wanted to see more of the dancing, i usually hate that. And Beast was one cool bastard. Good movie.

i just sorta skimread through this so im not sure if anyone mentioned this flick or not, but all this talk of the mightily awesome flick kung fu chaos makes me think back to shaolin soccer <<< anybody see that flick? another great one with pretty much the same cheesey and yet brilliant digital effects :D

Kung fu Hustle was pretty cool. However... I just finished watching Ong-Bak and I can't even think about watching Hustle again any time soon. I realize they are not in the same exact genre, but for me the more natural action of Bak entertains me so much more than quirky wire fighting.

Nate wait until Tom Yum Gong comes out, that's Tony Jaa's next movie. It will definately be better than Ong Bak. Yes Kung Fu Hustle was good in some parts but nothing beats a real fighting, having done some Muay Thai myself I can appreciate that finally the Muay Thai fighting style is being recognize, not that it hasn't been recognized before, it was voted second in the most deadly martial arts in the world, first was shaolin kung fu. In a article I read a few months back they asked Stephen Chow what he thought of Tony Jaa, Stephen said he really likes the new comer, and states that he will be a huge success because of the moves he can perform without stunts.

Ong Bak was crazy action and a bad - bad - script. I appreciated the crazy action, that was really good. Without all the hit and miss story elements it could have been great. There was already too much story in that movie, it's not Hamlet or anything.
Here, i write the script for the sequel: Bad guys take good guys girlfriend hostage because he didn't give them a cigarette when they asked for one, good guy flips out real ultimate power style and 85 minutes of action ensue. Anything more than 4 sentences of smack talk can ruin the movie. Is that so difficult? Looking forward to the next one btw.

Woo Hoo Stephen Chow is going to make a Sequel to Kung Fu Hustle, nice script Ancient Kitten....lol. Only thing with most asian movies are the scripts, LOL...you think with 1.2 billion people living in China, someone could writeup a decent script, Tsui Hark is the man!! Bad thing is that Ong Bak was made for the locals not for international play, so of course they are going to try and make it better for their next movie, seeing as how they are in the limelight now.

Ong Bak was made for the locals not for international play,

That explains a lot. I hope they don't think we need special effects of stories for the next one.

I grew up with Stephen Chow's movies. Really honest opinion, Kung Fu Hustle was a disappointment compared to everything else I've seen so far.

Its not a bad movie, I don't think I laughed this hard since Shaolin Soccer, but yeah the story doesn't tie in quite nicely. In fact it was only marginally less disconnected than SW:EP3 :teeth: Still I would recommend it to anyone, but personally I liked some of his older films.

My, my - I LOVE this film. I caught Kung Fu Hustle in the cinema about a week ago and was really impressed by the blend of comedy and action - not many films I've seen can match this. If anything it's widened my eyes to Eastern cinema a little more, but my hopes are it'll become fairly successful here in the West on its own merits too.

Highlights for me? Kicking off a bird in order to perform the Buddhist Palm, and the fabulously cheesy intro dance sequence. 'XD' all the way.

Steven Chow is a genius. I remember him from another movie called "time and tide" It was a very under rated film.
One small thing about that movie that I admired is the voice actors in the dubbed version had chinese accents. Usually voice actors have honkey accents and it contradicts the actor. I think the actors really are what made the movie so great. The Slum Queen reminds me of my friends mom. I hope there is more to come.

I've got a bunch of his movies on DVD. He's like the chinese leslie nielsen. Surprisingly he's made some serious movies as well. There was one.. something Restaurant, where he was a ganster. Totally a sad movie at the end. My favorite is Scoundrels. He plays the part of a "master" con artist and ends up in a huge house with other con artists, trying to con eachother. Hilarious. The cool thing is that I speak chinese, I can watch them in the original language. Let me tell you the subtitles and dubbing are waaaaay off, Kung Fu Hustle is among them.
