Good stuff good stuff. Keep drawing. I want to start a thread but the portfolio stress is killing me. I do have to scan some things for it anyway though so maybe I'll put some pics up and ask about portfolio crits.

Also, I think that if you lightened up some of your initial lines your stuff would come out much better. A lot of it is very straight and jagged, I had\have a problem with this too. Really work those gestures, just move and get some base lines in there to let yourself know how the structure is formed of the person or item or whatever it is you're drawing. Just be loose with it. I always see andrew scraping away at his papers and getting frustrated but I generally don't like to give a crit or technique to someone unless they ask for it. Plus, I'm not all that qualified to give either! ;D

When you do a gesture that's really light you can start to see the structure forming out of all the lines and then you're able to pick the right lines with your eyes.

I always thought that markered fish drawing was the bomb. I suck a fat marker.

The eye sketch (10 minute quickie) is probably my favorite. It shows the best anatomy work, and the shading is excellent. Something I might suggest is to try thinging of your objects as more 3D. If you can work that concept into your head you will start drawing them with more of a 3D sense. These are a little flat, and I sense you are still fighting the flatness of the paper. When you draw, try to picture what is just out of sight around the forms edge as much as what you are drawing. I thing you will find it will give a more realistic feel to your work.

patternagainst- thanks for the advice e.

arteric- yes i am fighting with the 2d aspect of the paper. i can see the 3d in my head but i cant figure out how to get it on the paper. that is the main thing im trying to work on right now. thanks.
