A new commer.

HI, everybody.
This is my first time in this nice forum. I"m originally a musician of atmospheric electronic music. Something like soundscape music. In fact I worked with photoshop for about two years now and only recently that I got into traditional and digital painting. I have no real good artwork yet, but surely I'll have some in the near future to show you.
Actually all I know about concept art is that it's a digital painting. So could anyone please tell me more about what concept art means.
Also I need an answer for the question of "Is it ok if I skand and sampled colors from artbooks and used them in my digital paintings? Does skanning distort them or not?

concept art doesnt have to be a digital painting or a painting at all, im not gonna try and define it though cause ill probably end up sounding dumb

this is totally the wrong forum, which isnt a big problem or anything but you would probably get more replies in the lounge

im not sure what you mean about sampling colours, they'd probably be distorted a bit. im not sure why you would need to sample them in the first place though
