hey

Here's an image I'm working on for the website, www.turokevolution.co.uk/ This is just a wallpaper that I threw together from what I had already completed from a much larger illustration. Anyway, portraits, especially facial closeups, are a little forein to me and someone over at the "eatpoo" forums brought it to my attention that this... umm... Isn't be best. Any help would be appreciated.

It's a nice start but you have to study some facial structure before you do a closeup painting such as this one. When you first start with a head make sure to losely get the porportions and angles right first. The main problems I can see in this one are; his right eye socket isn't indented at all. His chin is too small and not in the right posistion.

Try to work on his head a bit more and this will be a much better piece.

Having worked for Acclaim i dont know why anyone would do fan art for them! But enough of my bitterness!

I think you should definatley study facial structure. Continue to develop that background. Its a good simple composition though, just keep developing on the drawing aspect. Use a model or failing that a photo or other reference.

and you havent put any shadow on the eyes.. they dont cast light so you need to shade them..

Hey Bud,

That's comming along really great. I don't know if this will even really help you but i've included an altered image

I'm not saying i'm the best at drawing heads or if this will be of any use for you, i just thought that this would be the way that I would tackle the setup of the head for such an occurance, if you want me to explain anything just ask, once again i am not a pro so you don't have to take anything i say or draw seriously, just trying to help.

Oh by the way, I have the psd file for it showing 3-4 steps of the creation of the structure if you're interested. Anyway....3:27 AM....eek...

***** My site seems to be down right now, arg...so you'll have to check back later for the image sorry chaps

I don't know what everyone is talking about. I really like it. It's highly stylized. I like the look of it. Very gritty.
